Yes, they are meant for don’t shoot trargets. Thank goodness!!
I went to the web site and looked at the targets. They are ALL holding guns. In most law enforcement situations, that is NOT a “don’t shoot” scenario. These targets are intended to help overcome the hesitation to shoot when the situation presents a target that wields a weapon, i.e. a citizen defending themselves, even if they are pregnant…
2 Billions rounds of ammunition in DHS hands supports this view.

Nevermind about the website and link, I found it. I looked at the targets, they are “shoot – don’t shoot” targets. In the one scenario with the pregnant/or “portly” woman holding the gun, she is, by definition, a ‘hostile’ and should be shot! In any shooting scenario where someone on the target is aiming a gun at you, you had better shoot to kill, or you’ll be considered dead! In all the other scenarios, all of the victims are without guns, and are being held as hostages and/or human shields. These targets are shoot/don’t shoot. The lady on the phone at the company stated the same when talking to this interviewer. He was reaching for something that was not there.

I cannot speak to you about the training or practices of the DHS – I am not associated with them. I am a retired US Marine (24 years) who served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. I am an occasional hunter, an avid target and sport shooter, and own a number of firearms. I have shot at most of the targets being sold at “letargets’ because they were offered at my local range, and discussed during my “carry conceal” training and licensing. If you, me or anyone is faced with a target that disokays an individual holding a gun pointed at you – you shot it, or you lose. That’s the name of the ‘game’ when facing paper targets. If the targets have multiple images, you quickly scan, acquire the armed dangers, and fire, as quickly and accurately as you can – there’s no magic to it. You certainly do not stand there and try to imagine make-believe scenarios about whether the person holding the gun is lost, or defending herself, or just offering you her gun. It doesn’t work that way. And – oddly, it’s the same way in real life! If you hesitate to psychoanalyze what the person pointing the gun at you is doing, or is going to do, then you will be shot. This is why people who own, or buy guns must seek proper training with their firearms. In a police scenario, while using those targets with armed civilians, the shooter on the line would shout out, “police officer, coming in” – the civilian behind the door, or around the corner, whatever, would know that the next thing they’re going to see coming into the room will be a cop, so they should throw their firearm (or whatever weapon) to the floor, and rasie their hands or extend them to show they are empty and that they are not a threat – so then the police officer enters the room and doesn’t shoot an innocent person. If however, after shouting out his presence and intention to enter, the civilian is still holding a gun, and it’s pointed at the cop, then he is going to shoot to kill – period. That’s his right and his duty if he wants to live and go home to his family. To say “what if the pregnant girl is protecting her family” is bullcrap… if the scenario, and the real life warnings, are executed and followed the way they’re supposed to be, then the woman won’t be holding a gun, or she will be shot.
After having read so many of the comments and remarks on here, my head is spinning to think that some of you even have firearms! I suspect many do not have CCW’s nor the accompanying training, because if you did you wouldn’t be saying some of the crap I’m reading. And for all of you who think these targets with armed civilians are anything other than shoot/don’t shoot targets (and I mean shoot the armed individual and not the unarmed ones), then you haven’t been to a shooting range where targets can be bought and used, and you aren’t properly trained with a firearm, and you do not know what you are talking about!

This interviewer is not knowledgable in target shooting! Of course they are for shoot, don’t shoot, target practice!!! You IDIOT! I have shot at targets depicting pregnant women surrounded by bad-guys, at targets of a pre-teen girl being used by an armed assailant as a human shield on a school bus, at targets of an armed woman hiding behind a man…. these are simply targets to ‘hone’ ones skills at decision making, quick responses, and more accurate and concise shooting… shoot or don’t shoot.
There are just too many damn people in these gun arguments who are ignorant and untrained in the use of firearms. They should all shut their mouths and defer to the experts – now there’s a novel idea!!
I actually never thought about that and I have seen these targets on TV when cops are practicing to make sure they are not shooting the wrong person so this is NOTHING new.

SO, you’re right to a point. These ARE no hesitation targets, but at the same time…. I would think good training, although their use may lead to a certain “desensitizing” in individuals as you said. On the other hand, you enter a room, and there’s this pregnant woman and her Glock 9mm is pointed at your face, who would you prefer to go home that day ???? HOPEFULLY, given an actual scenario, she would see you were Law Enforcement, and would lower the weapon. But, if not…. ?????? Alot of judgement in a short time……

I don’t know which was worse in the horrible interview. The interviewer or the interviewee? It was enough to grate on one’s nerves. He stumbled and stuttered and talked over his subject while she rambled and droned on ad nauseum and incomprehensibly. The whole thing was worthless. The practice targets are a non-issue. Our concern should not be with the poor fed saps who might be called upon to enforce something they know is clearly wrong and places them in great peril while trying to carry out their orders. The power is available to state governors via the 10th Amendment to basically tell Obama to go to hell when he tries to force some law upon us that is patently unconstitutional. It matters not if federal courts all the way up to the Supreme Court rules in his favor. The federal judiciary cannot enforce anything that the states refuse to honor. Ours has been and is to some extent still a nation of laws but only because we the people have in good faith kept the law for the sake of peace and stability. If a president along with his AG refuses to keep the law, then why should we. Our response to him should be: We’ll start obeying the law when you do. Of course he would counter by withholding federal funds, his only coercive option. But that can be defeated as well if he wants to “press to test.”

My senator (Toomey, (R), PA) replied, totally defending the birth certificate’ saying the courts had rejected all cases as unfounded, etc. and ended saying, “of course he respects the constitution, blah, blah, blah”

(Wong Kim Ark) who was ruled to be a citizen under our 14th Amendment.

I saw an article yesterday (can’t find it now) that asserted that the Ark case, and one that it referenced, supported that to be a “Natural Born Citizen” you had to be born in the US of parentS as in plural, both) who were themselves citizens at the time of birth. That has always been my understanding, and I believe it’s clear that it was the Founders’ intent.
Even though there is doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii, since his (alleged) father was a British subject, Obama would have been born a dual citizen and be ineligible no matter where he was born.
However, if his true father was indeed Frank Marshal Davis, the communist, who he rambles MUCH more than Obama Sr., he could be eligible … Unless he actually lost citizenship through his adoption by Soetoro in Indonesia, where his school records list his citizenship as Indonesian and his religion as Islam.
It would be very interesting to see on what passport he traveled to Pakistan at a time when travel there on a US passport was prohibited.
There are so many lies and deceptions, and Obama has spent millions to hide the truth, so I can’t fathom how anyone with two functional brain cells can’t come to the conclusion that something is VERY wrong.

The fact that there are SO many permutations of unknown facts that would render him ineligible, coupled with the extraordinary effort and expense Obama has gone to to conceal those facts, clearly indicates that there is sufficient question as to merit a FULL and COMPLETE investigation to get to the bottom of it.
If Obama had nothing damning to hide, there would be NO reason to not just settle the matter once and for all, rather than spending millions on lawyers and corrupt judges to hid the facts.
