When Robert Baillio was pulled over by a member of the Shreveport police department, he learned that Shreveport’s Democratic mayor, Cedric Glover, believes firearms belong only in the hands of the police.
The mayor is a member of “Mayors Against Illegal Guns.” In fact, Glover is such a believer in disarming his electorate that his officers are trained to identify likely gun owners for the purpose of harassing them into giving up the practice of driving while armed.
The officer who detained Baillio – ostensibly for the improper use of a turn signal – later admitted it was actually the display of bumper stickers on the young man’s truck that prompted the stop.
One sticker read, “NRA Member.” Another proclaimed: “Armed we are Citizens, Unarmed we are Subjects.”
Upon pulling him over, the officer’s first question to Baillio was, “Are you armed?” The subject of turn signals never came up.
The officer immediately seized Baillio’s pistol after he told the officer he had a gun in the glove compartment. It was returned when Baillio was permitted to go on his way.
Why do liberal politicians such as Cedric Glover have such contempt for an armed public?
Two centuries before the Left began portraying militias as the shadowy refuge of a lunatic fringe, these citizen groups were charged with the security of both town and state. Their members were required to own a weapon and be proficient in its use.
But as the size and power of government have increased, its trust in an armed public has turned to contempt and fear. And with the claim that weapons rather than criminals pose the greatest threat to public safety, liberal politicians have sought to disarm American citizens for decades.
The Left pursues disarmament and feels threatened by the widespread ownership of arms because of its lust to have a monopoly over power, not the safety of the public. After all, it is not criminals the Left seeks to disarm by imposing ever more repressive gun control, but those who threaten the will of this would-be ruling class.
Thankfully, the Founders made provision for the God-given right to defend life, liberty, and property by crafting the Second Amendment. These men knew that, only when the people are armed do they have the means of preserving their liberty from the designs of would-be tyrants.
The Founders feared that liberty would be jeopardized by the power of government. Today, government fears its power is being jeopardized by the people.
Robert Baillio’s message is right. Unarmed, we are subjects. We must never permit that to happen.

Manhattan Beach a few years ago Officer Ganz pulled over a staion wagon with one occupant in the car. He too had a gun in his glove box. He however used the gun to shoot and kill Officer Ganz in front of a young ride along with him. Manhattan Beach is a upper class beach community and nothing like this had ever happened before. If we had more strict gun control Ganz might still be alive. But the memorial plaque in his honor leaves him in our memories forever. We need harsher gun control laws.
People kill people…not guns. The guns are a vehicle just like porn. We should outlaw all porn to keep people from getting pregnant I guess? It is people control and access we should be in the business of…not regulating the 2nd amendment constitutional rights away from Americans. If we had outlawed station wagons the shooting would have never happened…??? You liberals crack me up…
If a person wants to kill, taking guns away isn’t going to stop him/her. Had this upscale community been targeted in a riot or racial violence like what has occurred in Wisc, Peoria, and elsewhere, I’m sure you’d wish you had one. Owning a gun doesn’t mean you have to use it to kill, and any training worth its salt will properly tell you the appropriate time to use one. We had a guy stab two people in a grocery with a screwdriver. Wanna ban those?
Oh yes just take the guns of law abiding citizens…. That is how you liberal assholes think…. Just march in the goose steps of the chosen one and sooner or later his brown shirts will be on your door step wanting to take your weapons.. If they would enforce they laws they already have they would make sure that those who could not legally own a weapon would not have one…
The flaw in your argument is the supposition that outlawing guns takes guns away from criminals, people already disposed to ignoring the laws. Criminals will retain their weapons regardless.
Hitler, if still alive today, would love to have you as one of ‘subjects’ er, I mean citizens. It’s libtards like you who just don’t get, and probably never will. An unarmed populace is a breeding ground for criminal activity, and that’s includes your beloved federal govt. WTFU, you whining liberal!!!!
DO YOU THINK A LAW OUTLAWING WEAPONS WOULD STOP A MURDERER FROM GETTING A GUN? guns don’t kill, people do
Morgan Lloyd,
Are you just a fool, or are you being blatantly ignorant? ROGER HOAN BRADY, who shot officer Martin Ganz, was already on parole for a 1989 bank robbery. Just to remind you, it is illegal for felons and people on parole to possess firearms.
From THE PEOPLE v. ROGER HOAN BRADY v.THE PEOPLE, Plaintiff and Respondent, v. ROGER HOAN BRADY, S078404 — August 09, 2010 [1]:
from II A. 1.(a) “From August to October of 1989, defendant robbed six banks in the Los Angeles area and attempted to commit two additional bank robberies. With each robbery, defendant demanded money from a teller; he usually would then display, and sometimes brandish, a firearm that he carried tucked into his waistband. . . . While receiving medical attention, defendant said something along the lines of “I should have shot it out with you guys. I should have gone for it.” When Deputy Germann pointed out that he had only a BB gun, defendant replied that next time it would not be just a BB gun.”
. . .”On August 3, 1994, defendant robbed a supermarket wearing a long coat, gloves, and a black ski mask that covered most of his face. Defendant demanded money from a checker, pulled a .380-caliber pistol from his pocket, and took money from the register while pointing the pistol at the checker. . . .Catalina Correa (who had been in the market just prior to the robbery) turned and faced him. Defendant shot Correa three times, killing her. Defendant then got into his car and drove off. ”
So, Morgan, you honestly believe that for someone who made a career of robbing banks, markets and killing people, somehow, “If we had more strict gun control Ganz might still be alive.”
To make such assertions, is an insult to the memory of officer Ganz. Just exactly what level of “Gun control” do you surmise would have protected officer Ganz from being murdered? It is already illegal for felons to acquire, possess, or transport firearms. It is illegal to brandish a firearm, it is illegal to murder someone.
I suppose you would advocate a total ban on all civilian possession of firearms? I would remind you of cases like Christopher Dorner the former Rogue police officer. Evidently, murders by police officers are common enough to warrant its own wiki entry. [2]
Not to mention, such a “blanket prohibition” of firearms would return much of society to a law of the jungle approach, wherein “might makes right” . . . imagine the implications, especially for fragile elderly and single women as they would bear the brunt of your prohibition. There is much truth to the old axiom, “God made man, Colonel Colt made them equal.”
Also you should consider the total number of firearms in circulation (about 270 million) [3] and the ease with which a “zip gun” can be made. Take a look at a few:

And if you think no one uses them, think again:

Then again, Heroin, Cocaine and other drugs have been illegal for years, and all you need do is look around you to see how well that has worked.
Approaches and opinions such as yours do nothing to combat the problem, only draw out the length of time it will take before real solutions are considered.

Guard with Jealous attention the public Liberty, Suspect Everyone who approaches that Jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but down Right Force. When ever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined. [ Quote by Patrick Henry]
Hey Morgan, you’re the epitomy of what’s wrong with our country. Your one of those bleeding heart libs that just doesn’t get it. When you have an unarmed citizenry, that makes for a breeding ground for criminals, including yours truly, your own federal govt. Hitler, if alive today, would’ve loved to have as one of his ‘subjects’ er, I mean, citizens. WTFU, Morgan and face reality!!!!
