WASHINGTON (OfficialWire) — In an appeal to Latino voters, three Senate candidates in the Southwest are calling on delegates to the Democratic National Convention to make support of a bill to help young illegal immigrants gain citizenship a part of the party platform.
Rep. Martin Heinrich, the Democratic nominee for a Senate seat from New Mexico, is leading the effort and said that formally supporting the immigration proposal would provide voters with a clear choice on an issue that many care deeply about.
“I think the time has come for the DREAM Act to be part of our identity as a party,” Heinrich said in a telephone interview.
Democratic candidate Shelley Berkley in Nevada said she supports the campaign, and a spokesman for Richard Carmona in Arizona said he does as well.
The DREAM Act would give young illegal immigrants who attend college or serve in the military a path to citizenship.

It’s a ‘dream’ alright, or a nightmare, depending on your moral perspective. Before you can “help young illegal immigrants gain citizenship” you must first ascertain which of them has a right to be here, for example, a 25 year old who’s parents brought him here at the age of 2 or even 12. He should not be sent back. It wasn’t his fault and it’s too late. He may not even speak the language.
But lately it has been documented that Obama is reprimanding ICE officers who dare ask for the proof when asking if the person has a job or a diploma, etc. This, alone, is violation of the law, to allow them to go free just by meeting certain criteria. But Obama doesn’t care.
If he wins again in November, I think there will be insurrections, and certainly some States will forcefully execute their Tenth Amendment rights, while right now they are only testing those waters.
