For liberals, facts are never really important. “Truth” to liberals like Democrat New York City Congressman Jerrold Nadler is what he “feels” it is. Nadler has said: “Hunters don’t use large ammunition clips, and as far as self- defense, I mean who are you defending yourself against? If you’re defending yourself against a robber… two or three or four shots should be enough—period.”
It’s a safe bet Nadler has never faced an assailant fueled by adrenalin drugs and alcohol. That doesn’t matter, of course, since no one will ever challenge Nadler on his supposed knowledge of the danger presented by people who are psychotic and drunk – “period.”
The “period” at the end of Nadler’s pronouncement is the classic liberal dismissal of anyone daring to disagree with their use of “feelings” as facts.
Nadler’s fantasy about real shooting combat brings up the death of New York City Police Sergeant Edward J. Johnson.
On January 8, 1960, Sergeant Johnson and his driver were on patrol in the Bowery district of lower Manhattan. The area was dotted with dozens of soup kitchens that catered to the skid row drunks and mental patients who freely walked New York’s streets.
Johnson responded to a call of a man with a knife who was menacing the staff and clients of one of those soup kitchens. When Johnson arrived, another team of cops was already on the scene and attempting to subdue the man in a narrow hallway. He was clearly a drunken paranoid schizophrenic. He had a 16 inch bread knife and was not giving it up.
At some point, the man lunged at Johnson; and all four cops started shooting from less than seven feet away. They fired 24 shots, hitting him 16 times. Four of the shots should have killed the drunken psychotic instantly. One cleanly severed his spinal cord; another went through his heart. None of those shots killed him fast enough to stop him from plunging his knife into Sergeant Edward Johnson’s heart. Johnson died at the scene. The drunken psychotic died seconds later, but way too late.
Jerrold Nadler is a jackass; but he “feels” the right way about guns, so that’s good enough – period.

So does that mean we can only load 4 bullets into the gun? In a city not far south fo here, there was a home invasion where six crackheads kicked the door in and went in together. If you have a gun with 2 to 4 shots, what do you think would be the outcome? The lead crackhead had a shotgun stolen from a previous crime. They murdered the man immediately with the stolen shotgun, they raped the woman before cutting her throat with a kitchen butcher’s knife. This is what happens to those who choose to be unarmed because the media says guns are bad. If you have a revolver with 2 to 4 shots, you might as well be unarmed. If your gun is locked away as per instruction, you will never get to it before you become a statistic. This man telling us 2 to 4 shots is plenty, he is either highly naive or simply an idiot.

I was raised in the shadows of a giant state mental institution. My parents and many of my relatives worked their. It also was a giant farm which reduced its operating cost by allowing the inmates who could, to work.
My home town which was near-by had two policemen. The incidents of violence was almost none.Some of the inmates lived here and some, came and went when treatment was needed. If the police needed to, they could place someone there at any time, day or night. It worked well and our community was well served by this.
During the Reagan Years, a horrible mistake was made…This facility was closed as were most like it. It was suppose to save money. Now, after thirty years have past, I realized it was one of the more costly mistakes this nation has ever made. Today, our town, with the same population as it was then, now has 36 police officers and they can not keep control. Gun , violence, and many other problems we are facing, are a result of our closing down the , mental treatment facilities in this country. In judging and estimating cost, we as a nation are often errand.. The purpose of this post is to say: We have seriously underestimated the cost of providing mental health care and confinement of those who need confining.
Throughout this nation, there are hundred of thousands of people who are trying to care for someone who need to be confined. This is for the good of both, the sick person and the society they live in. I realize the cost, but I say again, we are not fully recognizing the cost of ignoring this problem. If I could cite, one fault this nation has, it would be our inability to recognize and reverse bad legislation that was made in good faith. Sandy-Hook is a prime example. In fact most of the mass and senseless shooting would have been averted had we addressed this issue. Mental instability and mean people are two different things.Many of the inmates of this above mentioned facility were highly intelligent. Some would be fine for months and then have an episode and would need help. Some had split and multiple personalities… Some were veterans who needed help. Upon reflection and with all factors considered I think it is the best money this indebted nation could spend would be on rebuilding these mental treatment facilities…….
