Determined as always to travel the safest, least contentious path to their own re-election, House Speaker John Boehner, Majority leader Eric Cantor and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy have decided that the Party will do NOTHING to defund ObamaCare when current, federal funding legislation expires on September 30th.
Thirty times over the past two years the House has voted to repeal the President’s “Affordable” Care Act. Of course, on each occasion Republican leaders were secure in the knowledge that the measure had NO chance of passing the Democrat controlled Senate or collecting the signature of Barack Obama. And this was of supreme importance to these stout-hearted, GOP Representatives as it meant none of the scheduled votes would raise the ire of the Party’s most feared and potent foe—the dreaded national media.
For were the landmark legislation of their Marxist icon to REALLY be threatened by some Republican scheme, the New York Times and its left-wing colleagues might spend the rest of these pre-election months trying to discredit Republican candidates with all manner of vile half-truths and dishonest reporting, something the media would NEVER do without good cause!
Yet weak knees on the part of Republican leadership should come as no surprise to interested conservatives as we were warned by Iowa Congressman Peter King last year that “…the decision was made by leadership to avoid the prospect of a showdown with the president or Harry Reid that could result in a potential shutdown of government.” (1)
And it was in February that John Boehner nearly suffered whiplash, ducking a reporter’s question about the congressman’s ObamaCare funding intentions in an upcoming budget resolution. Boehner’s non-answer answer: “We are opposed to Obamacare. We have voted to repeal it. That also included $700 million in tax hikes, about $2.6 trillion in new spending. We’re going to continue to take all the actions that we can to make sure that we do not ruin the best health care delivery system in the world, bankrupt our nation and, most importantly, get in the way of job creation in America.”
But apparently the Speaker and his colleagues are NOT so opposed to ObamaCare or worried about job creation that they are willing to rescind the $80 billion or so earmarked for the “healthcare” law by the last congress, or the $115 billion already authorized for “additional appropriation.” (2)
One hundred and twenty seven House Republicans signed a letter addressed to Boehner and Cantor by Michelle Bachman and Jim Jordan. In it they wrote, “…we urge you not to bring to the House floor in the 112th Congress any legislation that provides or allows funds to implement ObamaCare…” “We also urge you to take legislative steps necessary to immediately rescind all ObamaCare implementation funds.” (3)
House leadership has the authority to legislatively package ObamaCare funding in any manner it wishes. Were they to place it with truly necessary “must pass” funding legislation, it would force Senate Democrats to make a very dodgy political decision before the election. As Congressman King puts it, Democrats would have… to “…defend Obamacare as more important than all of the rest of the functions of government combined.” (1)
But once again, John Boehner and the other shining pillars of Republican resolve are intent upon snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. For although the American public is solidly in favor of Republicans defunding ObamaCare, political caution MUST take precedence over the Constitution or a congressional oath of office!
Should Obama win in November, expect Speaker Boehner to be provided round-the-clock, Secret Service protection. Barack couldn’t afford anything happening to one of his most valued supporters.

Over the past few years I have believed that John Boehner was a true conservative. A basic flaw in my personality is that I tend to take people at their word. He sounded believable. I’ve since read many post’s from folks who had other opinions of him, most saying he was not a conservative and not representing the views and values of the Republican party. This fiasco was the straw that broke this camels back! I now see him for the lying charlatan of a politician that he is. He certainly doesn’t represent MY views. Just two years ago he came on TV and PROMISED us that his first thing priority was to make sure ObamaCare did not get any funding. Now, he is worried about his image and his political future, instead? I think an impeachment is called for here, and those 127 Congressmen & women should start the proceedings immediately! We need a true conservative to lead the House, and there is no shortage of good, qualified candidates to choose from. John Boehner is certainly NOT one of them. This is totally unacceptable and we can’t let it pass. He needs to be charged with contempt for lying to the American people. So far, only Obama has that right, apparently. Haul him up on charges and toss him out on his ear! Political games are what got us into the mess we are in now, and it’s time to stop those games. John Boehner represents all of the worst that the left has accused us of. We need to clean our house of all vermin RINO’s like him.

He is an overwhelming failure & I am sure that he will be voted out of the speakership next Jan when the new GOP administration & congress is seated.

I am 77 years old, this administration on both sides makes me sick to my stomach, I am so sick of Obama and his entorage of evil doers, and the congres and speaker so weak, we need major changes to both parties and limited terms, and I might add the fairtax to be incorporated, it would get rid of all those lobbiests and be for the good of all, wish they all had a brain
Yes Liz, both parties are corrupt with greed and false promises. The primaries, going on now, is our voice to hand them their pink slip and tell them they have failed as true representatives of We The People. Since Rep. Ron Paul didn’t have enough money to “buy” his way in to the nominations, I think we ought to campaign for him in our own communities. He seems to be The Guy who has the same beliefs we do. Get out of the U.N., stop sending money to countries who hate us, totally repeal The Health Care Act, Get our troops out of other countries domestic problems, rescind the Dream Act and deport ALL the illegal aliens plus their offspring, make the tax structure more business friendly so we can be a productive nation, again and cut the size of government to a manageable level. I would encourage Dr. Paul to team up with Rep. Paul Ryan (WI). He’s an economics whiz kid who actually thinks We The People are worth a damn.
MarySue, a vote for Paul, unfortunately, is a vote for Soetoro. I have no use for Romney, but he is at least 1/4 inch further to the right. There are much better candidates around, but the ESTABLISHMENT wanted Romney, an Obama junior.
Back to the subject. Boener is a bone-head, and that’s insulting a bone-head. I was for anyone to replace the Witch of California, but he’s of the same group as Pill-lousy.
There is some hope for the country. TEA Party candidates are winning in primaries. In some places long time Republican establishment candidates are losing in the primaries. However, the Republican establishment still has enough control to keep either Paul out of the White House.
Even after making some excellent points during the campaign season, Ron Paul will not be elected for three reasons.
1. Too many people see him as a screwball. Despite the good points, some of his comments are from far, far left field; comments such as the legalization of all drugs and a total isolationist stand for the US in economic matters. I believe some of his far out comments are the result of the second reason he will never be elected.
2. He is simply too old. I truly believe Ron Paul’s age is affecting him mentally, even if just occasionally at this time, just as it does many other people his age. This will only get worse over the next four years. Also, at his current age there is a distinct possibility he could die of old age before the next four years are complete.
3. The Republican establishment does not support Ron Paul. Like it or not, fair or not, the establishment still controls the convention and the nominating process. This will continue until the TEA Party wins enough elections to take control of the Republican Party. I do not believe this will occur until 2020 or 2024. At that time the TEA Party will BE the Republican Party.
In summary, I support Ron Paul’s ideas but I believe the three reasons just mentioned are practical reasons for not supporting Ron Paul as a candidate.
Very thoughtful, Daniel. I believe the Republican party is generally shell-shocked over the lack of relevance thay are having in attempts to serve as 1/3 of the United States government. Obama’s habitual use of Ececutive Orders to get around Congress, the Senate’s self-imposed haitus and the Supreme Court’s apparent retreat from liberal pressure has provided the president with a clear field to manage the entire government as he chooses. Perhaps everyone is aware that if Obama suspects that he won’t win re-election, he can always resort to Executive Order to declare martial law and move forward from there. It appears no one has the intestinal fortitude to consider the challenge that resolves the Nixon corruption!
cw- I agree, don’t quit. The older generation has a lot of experience up their sleeves. You are a wealth of information that can help get these Republican turncoats out of office. Those who can’t, teach. Educate the younger generation and inform them of what happens when tyranny takes over. I have repeatedly been told “a vote for Rep Ron Paul is a vote for the imposter-in-chief”. Will someone please explain how? I tried that ‘lesser of the 2 evils’ vote once; it backfired. Don’t people believe Obama and Romney are the same animal, only on different sides of the fence? Wouldn’t a different thinker be the best vote? Is this election so far ‘in the bag’ that a 3rd contender has no chance?
Actually, this may be a no brainer, Mary. Do you actually believe that anyone who has such a vested interest in grabbing power and dloing everything to destroy the greatest nation in the world would just allow it all to be taken away from him in a national election, just because it is guaranteed by the US Constitution? I believe her would declare martial law before risking losing it all just because of a popular vote!
Here’s a simple explanation. Third parties split Republican votes; NOT Democratic votes. Look at every election that had a third party presidential candidate and you will see a Democratic winner. Democrats will not allow their voting base to be split.
The last person who was successful at splitting the Democratic vote was shot several months before the presidential election in 1972. His name was George Wallace. I did not like the man or anything he stood for, but his shooting is proof Democrats will not allow their voter base to be split.

Actually, in this particular election, a vote for Ron Paul is a vote that is wasted. And we can’t afford to waste any votes with all the voter fraud capabilities of the Obama-bots. I like Ron Paul too, but he has, unfortunately, been labeled as ‘out-of-touch’ (I say ‘labeled’ by the media, et al) and he is getting pretty old. That said, the Tea Party efforts may only be doubled in size for 2016, and if Romney hiccups or doesn’t deliver what he’s promised, Rand Paul (or another ‘real conservative’ could carry the day for that election and kick all the Dems and GOP RINOs out of Washington for good via the ‘official Tea Party! I know, “Hope springs eternal!” But I can envision it! “Never give up!” (Winston Churchill)
So, how will we change the presidential seat from being bought, back to being earned? Right now, it’s up for sale to the highest bidder.

It’s time for a Third Party System in these United States. If we haven’t seen that need emerge during these last four years, then we must have been in a collective coma. The politicos in Ofice now, both Dem and GOP, have come to feel that the seats they are sitting in belong to them personally. Those are OUR seats however, and we elect those people whom we think are worthy enough to occupy those seats to represent US in this government. The only way to clean up the hiouse and senate is to NEVER vote for an incumbent. When it comes to what they think is a choice between their re-election and doing what we sent them to Washington to represent us, they always chose their re-election over the wishes of the people.

I often wondered what would happen if We The People participated in the House and Senate sessions. It is OUR Congress and, so far, we have the right to instruct them how to handle OUR affairs of state and voice our opinions if the elected rep does not perform properly. They waste so much time on insignificant votes (naming post offices, recognizing a local guy who saves someone in a fire, etc) that don’t belong on that floor. I think it’s time we TOOK BACK control of our country. If you’re not on that train, your outta here!
Actually, there IS a third party in the works. It is called the TEA Party. They are following the correct path by slowly taking over the Republican Party from within. A few more elections and the TEA Party will BE the Republican Party.
BTW. Taking over a party from within is how Liberals took over the Democratic Party, starting in the late 1950s and concluding the takeover with the election of Jimmy Carter in 1976.

John Boehner is a disgusting human being he only cares about himself especially since he joined the “Millionaires Club” by taking advantage of insider trading. They are all disgusting and need to be kicked to the curb. Boehner might need a box of Kleenex since he is in reality an emotional freak. Wake up guys, you are all jokes similar to Senator John McCain who say’s that he is a Republican and then co-authors the NDAA, what a joke. McCain need to have retired a very long time ago but like most politicians in Washington they won’t let go of their power no matter what happens to the country. I believe that McCain was asked to run for the office sine they knew he had no chance of winning but he served a purpose in establishing that someone born on foreign soil could be president since McCain was born in Panama. That set the precedence for BO who was not a “natural born citizen”to run for office. The Obama team used McCain to slide BO into office knowing that McCain would never be elected, especially with all of the ballot stuffing and Eric Holder wants to insure happens again.
McCain WANTED to lose the 2008 election. Ballot stuffing was discovered in two states before the vote counts were finalized, but McCain ordered all his staff to remain silent about it. Also, McCain could not say enough nice things about obam throughout the campaign.
BTW. McCain is a natural born citizen despite being born in Panama. The portion of Panama where was born was classified as US Territory at that time, meaning being born there was considered the same as being born on the US mainland.

I agree it is time to take back OUR country. Many changes are needed in the way the country is governed. Congress, whether Democrat or Republican controlled, has repeatedly demonstrated it has no desire to make these changes because it enjoys the status quo. Only the states can produce these changes and get the country off of its current path to self destruction. It is time the states convened another Constitutional Convention. I believe a convention is the only thing that can save the US and avoid a second civil war.
BTW. Congress has no control over a convention. The states are only required to inform Congress that they are convening one.
The AARP can not be trusted. They were one of those who were instrumental in Obamacare. They are going to lead the elder citizens astray and use them for their own growing riches.
After being with AARP for over a decade, they unilaterally altered a couple of my insurance choices. I couldn’t get out of thet organization fast enough. Now they promise anything to get their membershnip jup.

The Repubs will understand only one aspect- if you hold them accountable your non-support. I have fought hard exposing the usurper barry soetero issue my state and US representatives. I get email solicitations from candidates asking for $$ and votes. I advocate this approach- Until someone has the integrity to confront the fraud in the Oval office I will not support that candidate. I am starting a new email campaign against the CONgress for complicity in silence allowing an illegal undocumented putative president. I am advocating vote for “Pedro” of Napoleon Dynamite fame. The default will then go to obummer for another 4 years since both parties of CONgress approves of his illegal status.
The treason will not abate until enough people rise up and say your (that candidate) responsible. Voting for Pedro puts GOP on notice in essence to say, if the liar-in-chief is fine by you now, it must mean he is fine later. If you conspire by silence for nearly 4 years as we the people contacted each member of CONgress thousands of letters came to their desks demanding investigations of the fraudster sitting in the Oval office. It was ignored, therefore we ignore your re-election efforts and we surely won’t endorse a known traitor and oath breaker which at this point is every CONgress member.
Speaking completely honest it’s beyond me as to how we ever made it this far without a full blown revolution to rid our selves of the corruption in our government.

This is just another example of what muckraker Alex Jones has always said: “There isn’t a dimes worth of difference between the two parties!” There isn’t. We are just given the “illusion” of having a “choice”. In reality, events are marching toward a pre-defined conclusion. Remember what Franklin Roosevelt once said? “In politics, nothing just happens. If it happens, you can bet it was PLANNED that way!” Translation: we were SUPPOSED to get ObamaCare, and the Republicans would put up their dutiful “kicking and screaming” but, in the end, they will let it go. Eventually, they may get in there and even tweek and improve it and start taking credit for the (so called) health plan themselves! They have done these things before.
Is it time to abandon the Republican party? I’m hearing more and more that there’s no difference that both parties are sold out to the NWO. Romney went to the Harvard Law School just like Obama, Hillary, Ted Kennedy, Elena Kagan and other liberal democrats. How is it that a Republican from Utah ends up Governor of the People’s Republic of Massachusetts? The two mascots should be merged together. The Republican elephant could be in the front with the long trunk signifying lying, the big head egotism and the Democratic ass, well the ass, where all the you know what comes from.
To say I am disgusted at the R’s again for doing nothing but talking is an understatement. I will never TRUST any politician again, EVER. Romney is BETTER than Obummer, but I still don’t trust him.
Congressional seniority and the resulting political fiefdoms, RINO’s, and POWER are the DISEASE, term LIMITS is the only CURE to get our nation BACK.
Term limits. Amen to that! That’ll end the career politician with wide eyes, easy life, little work, crime and fat wallets.
Congress will NEVER place term limits on itself. The states will have to do it in a Constitutional Convention. There are many other problems in the federal government that need to be fixed that Congress refuses to address because members of Congress enjoy the status quo too much.
Does anyone honestly believe Congress will support term limits for itself. Term limits will only occur when the states convene another Constitutional Convention. A convention is needed because Congress has no intentions of changing the status quo that currently dominates Washington.
Altough the status quo of the 112th Congress has remained constant, the single most noticeable aspect of this body of elected representatives is to remain errelevant to the concerns of their constituents. At least the 70 members who unabashedly declare active membership in the Democratic Socialists of America can’t be accused of hiding their continued support of the organizations progressive agenda. The only downside to such audacity is everyone realizes it’s impossible to serve two masters. I believe anyone other than freeshman members of Congress should be replaced with Constitutional Conservatives ready, willing and anxious to accept the task of fully representing consitutent taxpayers without reservation! We must not forget the 36 million regeristered voters who didn’t even bother to vote in 2008. Now, there are 51 million voting age Americans ready to register and vote in the November 6, 2012 general election. That’s a a total of 87 million potential swing voters ready to promote priniciples of abundance over scarcity for themselves and their posterity. As we go forward in this political contest, let’s hope for the best, prepare for the worst and always expect a miracle!

No one can blame republicans for the shape of the state of Hawaii. It’s been demorat as long as we have been the 50th state.
Don’t feel alone, Mark. It’s been the same in California, Oregon and Washington for far too long. Frankly, I’m getting tired of relocating. It woudl be easier to replace progressive politicians with Constitutional Conservatives who at least consider the impact of their decisions before rather that act and bury their heads.
