Most Americans view the guarantee of free speech to be the cornerstone of all other rights contained within our Constitution.
Our founders certainly saw the importance, judging only by its placement as the very first of our Bill of Rights.
As with so many other traditionally American values, though, leftists seem to be competing against one another to see who can most effectively degrade the First Amendment.
A Democrat Representative from Georgia appeared to be leading the pack after making some shocking recommendations.
Joining in the deafening chorus of class envy and wealth hatred, Rep. Hank Johnson claimed that America needs “a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations.”
Who could have foreseen a legislator arguing for more legislative power?
The reason for Johnson’s appeal is baffling to anyone with even moderately conservative views.
“These corporations,” he said, “along with the people they support, other millionaires who they’re putting into office, are stealing your government.” [Emphasis mine.]
As Obama nationalizes more and more of the private sector, it may seem disingenuous to suggest that the corporate world can bring a bloated, all-encompassing federal government to its knees.
Still, facts mean little when there’s propaganda to disperse.
Dreaded corporations and the evil rich “control the patterns of thinking,” Johnson said, explaining “you are being taught to hate your government.”
Any nation that re-elected Mr. Government himself, Barack Obama, to a second term is not being adequately taught that lesson, Rep. Johnson.
Continuing his diatribe, he alleges “these folks” are “setting up a scenario where they’re privatizing every aspect of our lives as we know it.”
The bottom line, in my estimation, is that corporations are the only entities left with enough capital to effectively speak out against a rogue government. If Johnson has his way, the private sector will be left muzzled and completely ineffective politically.

If you believe you should not have the right to free speech, feel free to shut up!
You were elected to uphold the Constitution, not change or destroy it.
There are plenty of other countries where you have limited rights; why don’t you relocate to one of them?
May God help America!
AMEN
I agree and just who do these liars and crooks think they are. The Constitution has been around a heck of a lot longer than any of the idiots in Congress and they were not elected to change anything but to make things better, Everyone of them can be replaced because they work for us and the thing in charge of the highest office in the country works for us and it is time to impeach him and all of the Congress and House who think it is up to them to change anything. The FBI is checking into the voting and the illegal votes and also the fact Nobama forged his draft card and if you look it up on Google under Obama Felony Fraud proven it just might show he is about to bite the dust. There are other things on Commieblaster.com also.
Hank Johnson is just another black man that shoud never been allowed off the cotton patch. Until the people start straightning out people like this things will just keep getting worse. I predict there soon will be a high demand for body guards.
I find it tragically ironic that a race, largely parasitic, for whom so much blood was spilt and treasure spent for their emancipation, should now appoint one of their own to destroy the very freedoms given
them.

Why doesn’t this racist Johnson go back to Georgia and shut up. He is spouting communist ideas.
Figures – If free speech is so reprehensible to him, why didn’t he do something about it before he he was too old to do more than sit around and complain…..seems The Civil War may have been in vain -although it gave voice (and equal rights) to many wonderful black heroes who should be emulated, (not Jackson, Rangel, Sharpton etc. or any other Democrat).
This clown should be run out of office – his attitude stinks.
Actually, the Constitution is all about “The People” – Individuals. Although the courts have ruled that various business structures have the rights of a “Person”, neither the 1st Amendment, nor any other part of the Constitution addresses the rights of non-living entities. It is this warping of the original intent of the Constitution that has given unions, corporations and PACs the right to donate to and otherwise influence political campaigns.
So although I disagree with Johnson, on his focus only on corporations, I would not be opposed to a constitutional amendment that would clearly state that if it doesn’t breathe, eat, laugh and cry, then it doesn’t have any right to influence elections. After all, the people who run corporations and unions don’t speak for EVERY stockholder or member. But they use the money from those stockholders and members to influence elections in a way that is in direct opposition to some of those stockholders and members. The same applies to PACs. A right-to-life PAC might donate to an anti-gun Christian candidate and a gun rights PAC might donate to a pro-choice candidate.
We need to keep in mind that ONLY PEOPLE VOTE. Corporations, unions, PACs nor any other non-breathing entity votes. Since only people vote, “THE PEOPLE” would be much better served if ONLY PEOPLE were allowed to influence elections.
In fact, to follow this line of thought to its logical conclusion, even political parties should only be able to say, “Vote (insert party name)”, but not name any specific candidate or donate party money to any specific candidate. After all, most people in both parties aren’t smart enough to realize that neither party speaks for them. They promote people who don’t represent the voters of their respective parties, such as Pelosi and Boehner and do their best to undermine those who represent their voters. Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) is a good example of this. The “Party” spent millions of conservative voter dollars in support of a RINO, in the primary. It’s also how we ended up with John McCain in 2008.
Organizations, be they corporations, unions, PACs, political parties or even churches don’t vote and therefore, should not be allowed to influence elections. While my pastor may have supported Romney, I know that some supported Obama. The problem is that both exert more influence, through their position, than is due them as an individual. If they want to speak outside of their church, on their own time and using their own money, that’s great. The same applies to union leaders and corporate heads. But they should use their own money and do it on their own time.
Johnson wants to stifle the voice of those who oppose his agenda, so as to give liberals more voice. But I would welcome a constitutional amendment that would limit the power of a select few individuals, who control unions, corporations, PACs, and other organizations, to use our money to promote positions and candidates that “We The People”, whose money it is, may not condone. Such an amendment would increase the voice of “The People”, while reducing the power brokers to the level of ordinary individuals.
You sound somewhat normal, what are you doing on this site?
“We need to keep in mind that ONLY PEOPLE VOTE. Corporations, unions, PACs nor any other non-breathing entity votes. Since only people vote, “THE PEOPLE” would be much better served if ONLY PEOPLE were allowed to influence elections.”
I couldn’t agree more. As someone else said “I’ll believe corporations are people as soon as Texas executes one”. They have ZERO business buying elections
Most of the Presidents from Regan on, not saying Regan did it, but saying that as long as most of us can remember, Corporations have had Influence over the outcome of most elections. And WHO Owns Most Large Corporations in this country? The Same Rich Bankers who run the Federal Reserve. That’s Who. And They and there Federal Reserve, just happens to be the reason this country, and a lot of the World is in the mess it’s in. Because of the Cheap Scate Bankers TAXING The Poor to Feed the Super RICH.
I say BURN The Banksters at the Stake like they did in Salam Mass, to the so called Witches.
John, after reading your comment and the article again. I agree with what you are saying. The freedom of speech should be limited to corporations, unions and businesses, but not for the reason Congressman Johnson gave.
This “Person” took an oath during his swaring into office. An oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America.
He should be charged with High Treason, arrested and tried for his feable attempt to ‘damage’ the very Constitution he vowed to protect and live by.
ALL STATES MUST SECEDE FROM THIS DISFUNCTIONAL GOVERNMENT AND START BACK FROM SCRATCH!!!!
Bite your tong when you start talking about Christians.
If you are a raciest against Christians then you need to take your butt to a country that don’t have Christians.
Sounds to me as though you are as much of a bigot as obama.
Anna, christians are not a race. Christianity is a religion and anyone from any race can believe in it or not. Remember….freedom of religion — which can also mean freedom from religion? My family is descended from the governor and religious leader of the Mayflower…..I do not go to church. I believe that each of us has a brain and are capable of thinking and doing the right thing. If a formal religion helps some folks and does not infringe on others rights….good for them,
Hey Congressman.,,We the people, totally dismiss and abhor your outlandish thoughts about our freedom of speech. So, back off and don’t tell us anymore trash.
I guess My Free Speach doesn’t count’ I already left a couple sentences about this.
What I said before was, that depending on WHO’S Free Speach he is trying to limit, is depending on What is done. I Agree with what he said about Limiting FREE SPEACH from Corporations, and all that Massive amount of Money they use to BUY off Congressmen and Senators, but Limiting Free Speach for Individuals is Not a Good thing, and should Never be Enfringed upon.
Corporations in this contry have WAY TOO MUCH SAY in Who get elected in this country, and the VOICE needs to be Back in the Hands of the PEOPLE, NOT BIG BUSINESS.
If people don’t want to speak English then they do not belong in The United States of America.
The English language belongs to the American people.
Here is a perfect example of why we must have minimum IQ standards in order to hold office and/or vote. The fool pictured above, (Rep. Hank Johnson), obviously can’t pass a minimum standard of room temp. How people can stand to be ruled over by those who are obviously inferior is beyond me. It’s hi-time we cull the herd and apply the Second Amendment solution while we still can.
You should hear some of the Out Takes from statements Congressmen and women have said that was posted on the net. Some of these people could not find their way out of an empty Culdasak.
Coldasack??? Sorry, never had to spell it. But you can be sure I can find My way out of one, even if there are no houses there yet.
Now TonysTake their is something i agree with we need to start thinking about the second amendment more it is getting to the point that they are not giving the true red blooded Americans much choice.
Our God-given right to freedom of speech has been under assault for decades. These tyrannical politicians find it easy to violate our free speech rights when we oppose them, but they will not infringe on the free speech rights of those who support them. This Congressman is biased and hateful. He just doesn’t want any speech in opposition to him or others like him. They are a bunch of tyrants in our government. We must fight them and stand up to them or we will lose our God-given right to freedom of speech.
Already Done, and standing watch.
This fool is sitting in front of the American Flag. Somalia is just the county this, racist loons deserve.
If you don’t believe in freedom of speech for those you despise, you will soon lose your freedom of speech. Without people, corporations and churches would not and could not exist! So, to say neither entities are “people” is just plain garbage. This is nothing more than a socialist minded gov’t hack hell bent on suppressing truth, not lies, to advance their “progressive” anti-America, anti-capitalist agenda. Please don’t fall for this trick!
I think this is the same genius that asked a question in a hearing about the weight of an island and if it
would sink into the ocean! How do people like him get elected?
We have already lost a lot of our freedom of speech rights. Look at the video that the Obama adminstration blamed for the violence in the middle east. He is still in jail. If we all know that video did not create turmoil in Libya, why is he in jail for the video. He has the right to produce what ever the hell he wants in this country. I’m surprised the movie about Barrack did not get someone arrested for speaking the truth.
What is really scary is his Constituents elected him. Think about how many people voted for the the Psychopath In Chief. Now that is Scary. Our Chied if a documented Crack user, Homo user, pot user, Liar, Communist, Muslim, Son of Satan. Now that is scary.
Oh, I left off Forger of:: Birth Certificate, Selective Service Registration and thief of Social Security Identity, Now that is scary too.
“Hick” Johnson was the moron who said the military needed to limit the # of military personnel put on Korea because the island would sink under the weight. P-u—u-ulese! ” Hick’s” moronity is only matched by his African faux POTUS…O.freespeechformenotu
This is the same house Rep that thought the Island of Guam might SINK in a hearing because the military was going to station more troops on the island.
This man really thinks money grows on trees and the “eye” candy man is passing out FREE STUFF because the trees are paying the bill and the $ will last forever.
Remember folks..this is the same “genius” who thought Guam would CAPSIZE “tip over” if the U.S. Navy put too many naval personnel on the tiny island. Check it out on YouTube. He is an idiot. He replaced the OTHER idiot, Cynthia McKinney. Wow..don’t you know that district has a bunch of winners as constituents!!!
