DENVER — Limits on the size of ammunition magazines and universal background checks passed the Colorado House on Monday, during a second day of emotional debates that has drawn attention from the White House as lawmakers try to address recent mass shootings.

The bills were among four that the Democratic-controlled House passed amid strong resistance from Republicans, who were joined by a few Democrats to make some of the votes close.

The proposed ammunition restrictions limit magazines to 15 rounds for firearms, and eight for shotguns. Three Democrats joined all Republicans voting no on the bill, but the proposal passed 34-31.

“Enough is enough. I’m sick and tired of bloodshed,” said Democratic Rep. Rhonda Fields, a sponsor of the bill and representative of the district where the shootings at an Aurora theater happened last summer. Fields’ son was also fatally shot in 2005.

Republicans argued that the proposals restrict Second Amendment rights and won’t prevent mass shootings like the ones in Aurora and a Connecticut elementary school.

  1. Just like NY now the Liberal controlled state of Colorado is Taking their Gun Rights, Just another step in the Liberal/Commies Plan to Control “We the People”

  2. Humans failing to drive appropriate for weather conditions cause accidents, not the weather. Similarly, humans using guns to murder are responsible for the murders, not the guns. Rep. Rhonda Fields needs therapy for her loss of a son, which will not be provided by stricter gun laws in Colorado. Nor will stricter gun laws in Colorado curb the evil intent of criminals, nor hinder flipped-out folk who decide to murder someone. For sure stricter gun laws will in no way hinder the CIA/MOSSAD or any similar secretive organization from conducting events such as the Aurora theater, designed to frequently frighten the citizenry into supporting the false war on terror, and disarm the citizenry via “gun control” nonsense.

  3. We all know whats going down with the laws there trying to pass will do very little to nothing on gun shootings. But thats not what this is really about, Its about people control from the obumma people.
they are using this chance to the max, if they can get the ar-type guns out of the picture the battle is half over, WE THE PEOPLE cant be a threat to the gov, as much when the hammer falls on control to the max on the people, Like a Communist Gov, or very left wing socialist

  4. The same people that said collage girls can throwup on raper and they passed the dope law.
