The Obama administration is moving to shut down nine Border Patrol stations across four states, triggering a backlash from local law enforcement, members of Congress and Border Patrol agents themselves.
Critics of the move warn the closures will undercut efforts to intercept drug and human traffickers in well-traveled corridors north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, the coverage areas still see plenty of illegal immigrant activity — one soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is outside Los Angeles.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it’s closing the stations in order to reassign agents to high-priority areas closer to the border.
“These deactivations are consistent with the strategic goal of securing America’s borders, and our objective of increasing and sustaining the certainty of arrest of those trying to enter our country illegally,” CBP spokesman Bill Brooks said in a statement. “By redeploying and reallocating resources at or near the border, CBP will maximize the effectiveness of its enforcement mandate and align our investments with our mission.”
But at least one Border Patrol supervisor in Texas has called on local officers to “voice your concerns” to elected officials, warning that the “deactivation” will remove agents from the Texas Panhandle, among other places. Several members of Congress have asked Border Patrol Chief Michael Fisher to reconsider the plan. And local officials are getting worried about what will happen once the Border Patrol leaves town, since they rely on those federal officials to assist in making immigration arrests.

It seems that our government wants more illegal crossings at the border. Well, they are going to get them along with the drug cartels backpacking more drugs into the United States. Iran also has 40,000 terrorist waiting to come in. Our government continues to work against the security of the states and the citizens of America for political gain.
Is it only for political gain? Drug trafficing is very lucrative. If someone at the upper levels of Komrade Obama’s inner circle stuck their hand out they could be richly rewarded. Hmm, something to think about!!!

More arrests? Why bother, when most are not going to be prosecuted or deported? Mission Mandate? What’s that? Oh yeah! turn and run if you see someone with a gun. According to an insider, name not given, working within the drug cartels and terrorist groups, there are more than 40,000 terrorists waiting south of the border to attack when the order is given. Could this be the reason the CBP stations were closed? I’m not one for conspiracy theories but it is food for thought. One way to get the Martial Law plan into action for sure. Maybe some more of those 1400 missing Fast and Furious guns will show up. I live fairly close to the border, and all I can say is none of those people better show up around here. I’ll do the BP’s job for them the way it should be done. Send them all back in a box.
I read about the 40,000 terrorists, too. Aren’t they in Venezuela right now? Wouldn’t take them long to get here, though, would it? I’m not much for conspiracy theories either, but you make some good points here. And to think that Homeland Security is telling our armed border agents to RUN AWAY rather than fight armed intruders! As for martial law, we already know that the entire country has been divided into FEMA camps, not just disaster areas like Miami or New Orleans. And we have a president who has a number of czars that are doing what? We don’t know. A shadow government? I have no trust in this administration. Nothing would surprise me.
