Christian Churches Read Quran From Pulpits Across America

How would you feel if your pastor stood in the pulpit this past Sunday opened what you believed to be his Bible and then started to read passages completely unfamiliar to you. Then in the midst of the reading you hear him say Allah instead of God and you realize he is reading not from his Bible, but from the Quran.

How would you feel and what would you do?

If this didn’t happen to you yesterday, count yourself fortunate because it did happen to a number people sitting in Christian churches across America.

Social activists involved with Faith Shared, a program of Interfaith Alliance and Human Rights First were trying to promote tolerance and respect of Islam and counter opposition to the Muslim faith. So starting with the National Cathedral in Washington DC, at least fifty other churches in twenty-six states joined in the effort to host readings from the Quran.

The effort is meant to counter what they refer to as ‘anti-Muslim bigotry and negative stereotypes’ that have been growing in the US. By getting prominent national and local churches to read from the Quran and teach their congregations about Islam, the Alliance believes it will help make Christians more knowledgeable and tolerant of Islam.

  1. Just Wondering says:

So does that mean that passages from the Bible and/or the Torah were also read in the Mosques???????

    Not!

  2. Oh, another thing…if you take out a loan to pay for your education, have the decency to pay it back! That, or get a job waiting tables and put yourself through college, as countless others have had to do! It might take you longer to get a degree, but it will mean a whole lot more to you than staring at a mountain of debt before you even manage to get a job in your new profession (the reason many college grads don't have a job right out of college is because many employers are looking for professionals with EXPERIENCE…good luck on your trip through fantasy land…you unwashed pathetic losers)!

  3. Robert Laity says:

ISLAM IS SATANIC AND SATAN MUST BE RESISTED.

  4. Rick Rodriguez says:

First of all, I have to submit to you that any congregation should be provided the courtesy of knowing what the pastor of the church has prepared in advance to give them the opportunity to decide whether they want to participate in such an uncharacteristic event.

Secondly, I don't believe in tolerance for anyone or a mania that is/are committed to ending my beliefs and changing such an important perspective on life as it currently exists. However, if it is my option to educate myself about another person or subject, I would personally welcome it. I am simply opposed to being forced into anything, especially by a compulsory government or an obligatory religious body. There is value in being sophisticated of one’s enemy, for if one knows not what he/they are thinking, one would essentially be fighting a battle with a hand tied behind one’s back. Consider this and dwell on it awhile!

  5. A Christian church that does not preach the truth from the bible is a blasphemer. The Koran has 5 books from the Old Testament in it and the rest are the “visions” that Mohamed had written down. If I wanted to hear the Koran I would go to a mosque. For me, Jesus is the Son of God and we get to God through Him. A very interesting book of history called “In Defense of Faith” by David Brog explains what the Christian-Judea culture has brought to the world. No other culture has done as much good for humanity as this culture has.

Really? Jesus would not have, so What is your excuse?

  7. DrWhoisit says:

Jesus would have kicked the dirt from the bottom of his shoes and left them to their sin to live and die in them.
