Dumb And Dumber

egypt map SC Dumb and Dumber

Errors by the party in power can get America into trouble; real catastrophes require consensus.

Rarely have both parties been as unanimous about a development overseas as they have in their shared enthusiasm for the so-called Arab Spring during the first months of 2011. Republicans vied with the Obama Administration in their zeal for the ouster of Egypt’s dictator Hosni Mubarak and in championing the subsequent NATO intervention against Muammar Qaddafi in Libya. Both parties saw themselves as having been vindicated by events. The Obama Administration saw its actions as proof that soft power in pursuit of humanitarian goals offered a new paradigm for foreign-policy success. And the Republican establishment saw a vindication of the Bush freedom agenda.

“Revolutions are sweeping the Middle East and everyone is a convert to George W. Bush’s freedom agenda,” Charles Krauthammer observed in February 2011. “Now that revolution has spread from Tunisia to Oman,” Krauthammer added, “the [Obama] administration is rushing to keep up with the new dispensation, repeating the fundamental tenet of the Bush Doctrine that Arabs are no exception to the universal thirst for dignity and freedom.” And William Kristol exulted, “Helping the Arab Spring through to fruition might contribute to an American Spring, one of renewed pride in our country and confidence in the cause of liberty.”

They were all wrong. Just two years later, the foreign-policy establishment has fractured in the face of a Syrian civil war that threatens to metastasize into neighboring Iraq and Lebanon and an economic collapse in Egypt that has brought the largest Arab country to the brink of state failure. Some Republican leaders, including Sen. John McCain and Weekly Standard editor Kristol, demand American military intervention to support Syria’s Sunni rebels. But Daniel Pipes, the dean of conservative Middle East analysts, wrote on April 11 that “Western governments should support the malign dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad,” because “Western powers should guide enemies to stalemate by helping whichever side is losing, so as to prolong their conflict.” If Assad appears to be winning, he added later, we should support the rebels. The respected strategist Edward Luttwak contends that America should “leave bad enough alone” in Syria and turn its attention away from the Middle East—to Asia. The Obama Administration meanwhile is waffling about what might constitute a “red line” for intervention and what form such intervention might take.

The once-happy bipartisan consensus has now shrunk to the common observation that all the available choices are bad. It could get much worse. Western efforts have failed to foster a unified leadership among the Syrian rebels, and jihadi extremists appear to be in control of the Free Syrian Army inside Syria. Syria’s war is “creating the conditions for a renewed conflict, dangerous and complex, to explode in Iraq. If Iraq is not shielded rapidly and properly, it will definitely slip into the Syrian quagmire,” warns Arab League Ambassador Nassif Hitti. Iraq leaders are talking of civil war and eventual partition. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, meanwhile, warned on May 1, “Syria has real friends in the region, and the world will not let Syria fall into the hands of America, Israel or takfiri [radical islamist] groups,” threatening in effect to turn the civil war into a regional conflict that has the potential to destabilize Turkey. And the gravest risk to the region remains the likelihood that “inherent weaknesses of state and society in Egypt reach a point where the country’s political, social and economic systems no longer function,” as Gamal Abuel Hassan wrote on May 28. Libya is fracturing, and the terrorists responsible for the September 2012 Benghazi attack are operating freely.

Obama Administration Spied On Fox News Reporter James Rosen: Report

Fox News channel SC Obama administration spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen: Report

The Justice Department spied extensively on Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2010, collecting his telephone records, tracking his movements in and out of the State Department and seizing two days of Rosen’s personal emails, the Washington Post reported on Monday.

In a chilling move sure to rile defenders of civil liberties, an FBI agent also accused Rosen of breaking anti-espionage law with behavior that—as described in the agent’s own affidavit—falls well inside the bounds of traditional news reporting. (Disclosure: This reporter counts Rosen among his friends.)

The revelations surfaced with President Barack Obama’s administration already under fire for seizing two months of telephone records of reporters and editors at the Associated Press. Obama last week said he makes “no apologies” for investigations into national security-related leaks. The AP’s CEO, Gray Pruitt, said Sunday that the seizure was “unconstitutional.”

The Obama administration has prosecuted twice as many leakers as all previous administrations combined.

“The president is a strong defender of the First Amendment and a firm believer in the need for the press to be unfettered in its ability to conduct investigative reporting and facilitate a free flow of information,” White House press secretary Jay Carney insisted last week. “He also, of course, recognizes the need for the Justice Department to investigate alleged criminal activity without undue influence.”

Sheriff Joe To Congress: Investigate Obama’s Eligibility

Joe Arpaio speech 3 SC1 Sheriff Joe to Congress: Investigate Obamas eligibility

Hey, while Congress is investigating the use of the IRS to harass conservative activists, is trying to find out what the Obama White House covered up about Benghazi and is looking into why the Justice Department went after reporters’ phone records, why not include a check into Obama’s eligibility, too?

That’s an idea confirmed in an affidavit filed with a legal case pending before the Alabama Supreme Court. It was brought by attorney Larry Klayman on behalf of 2012 Constitution Party presidential nominee Virgil Goode and Alabama Republican Party leader Hugh McInnish, who are seeking to force Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman to verify that all candidates on the state’s 2012 ballot were eligible to serve.

The case, dismissed at a lower level, is now before the Alabama Supreme Court, where strict constitutionalist Roy Moore was elected chief justice last November. The case becomes all the more intriguing because Moore is on record previously questioning Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve as president.

The affidavit comes from Mike Zullo, the chief of a special Cold Case Posse assembled by Maricopa, Ariz., County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to look into the question at the request of his constituents, who were concerned they were being defrauded by having an ineligible candidate on the 2012 election ballot.

Last year, Arpaio held a press conference at which he and Zullo outlined their findings.

Four Federal Agencies Targeted The Tea Party

Tea Party SC Four Federal Agencies Targeted the Tea Party

Catherine Engelbrecht’s tale has all the markings of a classic conspiracy theory: She says she thinks that because of her peaceful political activity, she and her family was targeted for scrutiny by hostile federal agencies.

Yet as news emerges that the Internal Revenue Service wielded its power to obstruct conservative groups, Catherine’s story becomes credible — and chilling. It also raises questions about whether other federal agencies have used their executive powers to target those deemed political enemies.

Before the Engelbrecht family’s three-year ordeal began, Catherine says, “I had no real expectation or preparation for the blood sport that American politics is.” Sounding weary on the phone, she continues: “It’s all been a through-the-looking-glass experience.”

Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who specializes in representing conservative organizations, says that the Engelbrecht family’s experience is “just the tip of the iceberg. . . . I think there’s definitely a Chicago-politics-style enemies list in this administration, and I think it permeates this branch of the federal government.”

The Engelbrechts were not, until recently, particularly political. They had been busy running a tiny manufacturing plant in Rosenberg, Texas. After years of working for others, Bryan, a trained machinist, wanted to open his own shop, so he saved his earnings, bought a computerized numerical-control machine, which does precision metal-cutting, and began operating out of his garage. “That was about 20 years ago,” he says. “Now, we’re up to about 30 employees.”

GOP Defies Boehner On Special Benghazi Panel

John Boehner SC GOP defies Boehner on special Benghazi panel

House Republican members are defying Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and five committee chairmen by endorsing a measure that would set up a special panel to investigate the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

A growing number of members on the committees with jurisdiction over the Benghazi matter — Intelligence, Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, Armed Services and Foreign Affairs — have signed onto Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R-Va.) resolution.

Boehner and the chairmen of those committees do not support the legislation. Instead, they have worked together to investigate the Obama administration’s handling of the Sept. 11, 2012 assault.

Despite that resistance, Wolf has garnered a sizable majority of the GOP Conference as co-sponsors since introducing the measure in January. It has 146 GOP co-sponsors, with more than 80 Republicans backing it over the last month.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has also embraced a special committee and attempted to pry the GOP-led House to schedule a vote. That would put pressure, McCain has pointed out, on the Senate to act.

Senator Wants US To Join EU Probe Into Oil Price Manipulation

Gulf Coast Oil Rig SC Senator wants US to join EU probe into oil price manipulation

Days after the European regulator raided the offices of three oil giants over allegations of manipulating the oil price benchmark for over a decade, the chairman of the US Senate’s energy committee yesterday urged the country’s regulator to also launch a probe to find out whether they had manipulated fuel prices for US consumers.

Senator Ron Wyden, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, wrote a letter to the Eric Holder, attorney general of the US Department of Justice (DoJ) to join the European investigation into whether oil companies manipulated oil prices by submitting false reports to Platts, an energy industry data service owned by New York-listed McGraw-Hill.

Early this week, the European Commission (EC) raided the offices of oil giants, including Royal Dutch Shell, BP and Statoil into whether they colluded in reporting distorted prices to a Platts to manipulate the published prices for a number of oil and biofuel products for over a decade in the over $2.5 -$3 trillion-a-year global oil market. (See: EU regulator raids oil giants over price manipulation)

“Efforts to manipulate the European oil indices, if proven, may have already impacted US consumers and businesses, because of the interrelationships among world oil markets and hedging practices,” wrote Senator Wyden in his letter.

New Benghazi Probe Evidence Puts Spotlight Back On Clinton

Hillary Clinton speech 11 SC New Benghazi probe evidence puts spotlight back on Clinton

New revelations about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, are pulling Hillary Clinton back into a political firestorm that the presumptive 2016 candidate had so far managed to escape unscathed.

House Republicans have unearthed new evidence suggesting the Obama administration could have done more to help the U.S. diplomats under attack last Sept. 11.

State Department whistle-blowers testifying Wednesday before the House Oversight panel are also expected to say the then-secretary of State was personally involved in the decision to depict the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans as something other than terrorism.

“I think the dam is about to break on Benghazi. We’re going to find a system failure before, during, and after the attacks,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wrote on his Facebook page Tuesday. “We’re going to find political manipulation seven weeks before an election. We’re going to find people asleep at the switch when it comes to the State Department, including Hillary Clinton.”

The latest allegations come from three career diplomats whose testimony Wednesday is expected to be at odds with the State Department’s official narrative. An internal State Department review last year found “systemic failures” among State Department leadership but did not interview Clinton and did not recommend anyone be fired.

Is Orly Taitz Losing It?

Orly Taitz 2 SC Is Orly Taitz Losing It?

Let me begin by saying that I know Orly Taitz personally. I have interviewed her on my radio program on several occasions. She has even contacted me a couple of times asking to appear on my radio program. I have been in conference with her before – we were guest speakers at the Dallas Constitutional Elections Conference some time back. We had a lengthy personal conversation at that meeting. I have lifted her up and supported her publicly in many different venues. I have, in the past, defended her cause using my good name and reputation.

She sought me out in the crowd at CPAC 2013 on three different occasions for the purpose of talking with me. She even invited me to eat lunch with her and her other guests. Practically every time we spoke she leveled negative charges against Mike Zullo and Sheriff Arpaio and their investigation as compared to hers. I even arranged a sit-down meeting with Taitz and Zullo at CPAC so that Mike Zullo could answer her concerns. Mike Zullo was the consummate professional and gentleman in that meeting. I witnessed the meeting and heard every word of it. He was patient with her, kind, respectful, and thorough in his answers to her.

She seemed to “get it” at that meeting. But, obviously she did not – as is now apparent by her continued mantras – some of them the same as at CPAC. I truly have no desire to disparage her, although she certainly seems to have no hesitation in disparaging me or Mike Zullo and Sheriff Arpaio. She continually unleashes a barrage of misinformation and accusations against us on her website. She proclaims that her website is the “World’s Leading Obama Eligibility Challenge Web Site.”

Taitz’ sometimes false and often misleading allegations only serve to “muddy the water” in the eyes of the world and the legal community concerning the whole issue of the highly suspicious nature of the eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama. She is making a mockery of the issue. She has now become the biggest detractor of Arpaio and Zullo on the net. This fact seems suspicious to me. Is this “muddying of the water” a purposed act on her part? Is she really an Obama operative in disguise? I do know that since Mike Zullo and I have brought up that possibility on the radio and in print – Orly has yet, to date, to deny our speculation. That fact, in and of itself, seems odd to me. I have no concrete evidence that she is an Obama operative, only anecdotal evidence that leads me to wonder and to ask the question. The same questions, the same attacks, the same misinformation tactics are used by the Obama operatives on a continual basis.

Judging from the comments left at a recent PPSIMMONS video - it seems many people are independently coming to that identical conclusion.  (SEE VIDEO AND COMMENTS HERE)

Zullo: Benghazi Might Have Never Happened!

mike zullo Zullo: Benghazi Might Have Never Happened!

Det. Michael Zullo has served as lead investigator of a Cold Case Posse which concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that the image posted on the White House website on April 27, 2011 as Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery.
(May 17, 2013) — In September 2011, Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaiocommissioned a Cold Case Posse to investigate a complaint received from agroup of 250 constituents claiming that the long-form birth certificate imagewhich had been posted on the White House website on April 27, 2011 was a forgery.  Directly after the release of the image, several highly-credentialed experts produced reports or gave press conferences detailing their findings that the image was, in fact, fraudulent.
The investigation has taken lead investigator Detective Michael Zullo from Arizona to Hawaii to Washington, DC and many points in between both before and after the posse determined last July that the evidence it had gathered surpassed the standard of “probable cause” in the forgery of Obama’s long-form birth certificate.
The mainstream press has taken no interest in the posse’s findings despite, or perhaps because of, its attendant ramifications.  On Wednesday of this week, the Associated Pressdid not find The Post & Email’s report of the forgery newsworthy.  On Thursday, commentator Glenn Beck tried to convince his listeners that the matter of the forgery is “a conspiracy.”
Zullo told The Post & Email that the posse’s probe has focused on the crime of forgery and not the “natural born Citizen” question on which many of the civil cases filed over the last five years have been based.  The posse is currently seeking a federal-level probe and exposure of the evidence it has gathered which Zullo described as “irrefutable.”

Ousted IRS Chief: Errors Not Caused By Politics

Obama Lies SC Ousted IRS chief: Errors not caused by politics

WASHINGTON — The ousted chief of the Internal Revenue Service is telling Congress that his agency made errors in targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, but he says the mistakes were not the result of partisan views.

In a prepared statement, former acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller was ready to tell the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday that the screening system agency workers set up was designed to deal with a growing caseload of groups seeking tax-exempt status. Miller said it was not due to “any political or partisan viewpoint.”
