Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy couldn’t understand why every political community on earth until the year 2000 recognized marriage as the union of a man and a woman. In his mind, this can be explained only by anti-gay “animus.” Justice Kennedy was dead wrong.
What is anti-gay animus? What is a gay? There are homosexuals in the world. Homosexuals are defined as people who have sexual intercourse with members of their own sex. That is the basis for a homosexual relationship. In many countries, they are outlawed; but here in the United States, they have been accepted. Since President Obama was elected, they feel they are entitled to the same consideration as a man and woman who are joined in Holy Matrimony. Throughout the world, the word “marriage” is used to signify the union of a man and a woman. Homosexuals have infiltrated the arts and are very notable in Hollywood Liberal circles. So when we elected a Hollywood-oriented president who garnered much of his campaign money from the homosexual community, we were setting the stage for their eventual demand to be equal under the law to married men and women. It is all about money. They want the same consideration so they can apply their taxes in the same fashion, be considered as legitimate heirs to an estate, etc.
The difference is that the state isn’t in the marriage business because it cares about love or romance, but because the sexual union of a man and a woman can produce new life; and this new life deserves a mother and a father. When a newborn isn’t raised by the man and the woman — the mother and the father — who gave him or her life, social costs run high.
If Adam and Eve were homosexuals, that would be the end of the species as we know it. I am exaggerating of course, but there is a certain irony to the idea itself. Why weren’t there homosexuals in the beginning? Why didn’t their feelings of confusion cause them to have reservations and doubts about their sexuality? Why were homosexuals only used to insure victory in war knowing with a certainty that they would die on the battlefield?
Marriage exists to bring a man and a woman together as husband and wife to be father and mother to any children their union produces. Marriage is based on the anthropological truth that men and women are different and complementary, the biological fact that reproduction depends on a man and a woman, and the social reality that children need both a mother and a father. If God intended it to be different, man and woman would be made differently. They would have interchangeable parts depending on their moods, but they don’t. Man and woman are meant to be soul mates and to have the opportunity to form a union that produces many children. That is God’s way, and it is the way of nature.
The animals follow the same principle for the same reason. If they don’t reproduce, they will become extinct. If they are killed off before they have a chance to reproduce, they become endangered (as did our national symbol, the bald eagle.) Humans are different. A perfect example is the abortion industry that targets every poor unfortunate baby in the womb. Mothers have a right to have babies, and babies have the right to live. Once the baby is born, they should be cared for by a loving mother and father and raised in a family unit, which has made America strong since its inception.
Homosexuals can’t reproduce, no matter how hard they try. They can adopt children who have been born of a man and a woman, but they can’t increase their numbers in their own relationship. They rely on others having babies to do that.
In today’s world, parents are being undercut by the politically correct society around them. The schools are teaching that homosexual acts are permitted and even preferred to normal sexual contact. This is not being taught in college. It is being taught to Kindergarteners. This administration believes in changing the minds of the young so they can then control them when they reach adulthood. It is dangerous to the responsible parents of today’s society, but even more catastrophic to their children, whom they love above everything else.
There is no such thing as “parenting.” There is mothering, and there is fathering. Although men and women are each capable of providing their children with a good upbringing, there are essential differences in how mothers and fathers interact with their children and the functional roles that they play. Dads play particularly important roles in the formation of both sons and daughters.
Government recognizes marriage because it is an institution that benefits society in a way no other relationship does. Marriage is society’s least restrictive means of ensuring the well-being of children. State recognition protects children by encouraging men and women to commit to each other and take responsibility for their children. In other words, the state encourages a man and a woman to get married so they can effectively raise their children to a successful conclusion.
Promoting marriage as the union of a man and a woman doesn’t ban any relationship. Adults are free to make whatever choices they feel are necessary. They don’t need government sanction or license to do so. All Americans have the freedom to live as they choose as long as they don’t break any existing laws in doing so. Under no circumstance should anyone call for the redefinition of marriage.
Marriage has been around for thousands of years as a union between a man and a woman, and no substitution by a dim society will ever change it. You can call other types of relationships whatever you want, but marriage in the eyes of the world will always be the union of a man and a woman for the purpose of having children and raising a productive family.
