This week we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with a refugee from Cuba. Our dinner conversation was starkly different than most.
This refugee came to the United States as a young boy in the early 1960s. His family was more fortunate than most as they were able to bring a suitcase and $100 when they fled Castro’s newly formed revolutionary paradise.
Our dinner consisted of all-American fare: hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and fresh ears of sweet corn. This is a menu shared with family and friends nationwide, while celebrating the birth of our beloved America on the Fourth of July.
We began with a simple discussion about our country and the direction it has taken since Barack Obama came to power. We shared the usual complaints about the sour economy and liberal social engineering emanating from the rulers in Washington.
But then he said it. The sentence came naturally. I assume it was unplanned. But it carried the weight of a freight train.
“You know when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist.”
We sat stunned. He continued, “Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a nationalist. Before the revolution he didn’t sound like a radical.”
The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected, “You mean just like Barack Obama?”
He responded, “Yes, just like Barack Obama.”
He continued, “We were all shocked as the government just continued to grab more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please turn in your guns. We all complied.”
“I remember my uncle saying after it started, ‘Castro will only nationalize some of the big industries, he will never come and take our family hardware store.’ But that is exactly what happened, Castro started with the sugar mills and the large industries, but they eventually came and knocked on the door of our family hardware store. My family had run this store for generations. They said we now own the hardware store, you work for us. And that nice, large four-bedroom home you own, it is now our property also, and you can move yourself and five children into two rooms of the house because others are moving in with you.”
The lesson learned from this discussion is a lesson most Americans refuse to hear. Political leaders can lie about their agenda and once in office they can take totally unexpected turns.
If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors would be nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never contemplate a country where the rule of law, the most fundamental building block of a justice society would be evaporating just like it did in Castro’s Cuba in the early 1960s.
But the news of injustice keeps increasing. Black Panthers are not charged with wrongdoing by the U.S. Department of Justice because their crimes are against whites. The bondholders of GM are stripped of their assets without due process by the government. Governmental leaders are bribed in full daylight only to have all investigation of the crimes stifled by the Attorney General. The U.S. borders are overrun with crime and illegal activity and the leaders in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the lawbreakers while the innocent are killed and overrun. When local communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed and threatened as racists and bigots. They are sued by the very administration entrusted with enforcing the law.
Without the rule of law the U.S. Constitution is a sham. Without the rule of law our beloved America is swiftly becoming a country where only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe. As Michelle Malkin has so eloquently explained in her recent book, a culture of corruption has replaced honest government.
The only way this problem will be fixed is by massive citizen action. All honest citizens that want to be treated equally must come together and demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven enforcement of law end now. And yes, it can happen here.

Maybe everyone write to the military leaders and anyone connected to the military,and express to them that we need them to help us save America from the enemy within.Flood them with letters and emails. I remember the shock throughout the US the day that Castro confessed openly to being a Marxist. I can imagine what it was like to be a Cuban at that time.

Surfed the tube last night only to see Jack Van Impe talking about the same thing. He says that Barack(the blessed) IS the anti christ and that according to the bible we won't win this war. I am a Cuban who arrived in USA in early 1960, we were fortunate to know, due to a catholic priest from the school Castro went to, that Castro was communist and what was coming. Still knowing this, we expected we were going to be back in Cuba 'in a year… maybe two'. The majority of Cubans did not believe Castro was a communist.
I visited Cuba in the 80's and was told in detail by teachers and regular citizens how they were living now, and how it came about. Upon returning I was so devastated by what I saw and heard that I was unable to talk about Cuba and the situation there, for more than 3 months, not even to my family.

For the reasons exposed in the previous comment, I have been afraid for this country's future since the election of the present US president. I will not call him a communist… he is actually much more dangerous than that, one of the reasons is the rapidity in which he is "changing" US, disregarding the laws, destroying the constitution, changing history, curtailing our freedom and indoctrinating our children (which if we don't act now it'll be impossible to correct) and trying for all of us to become an slave population . I have not mentioned the worse, the complete absence of God, bringing about the total moral decay and degradation.
There are details of what have and is going on in Cuba that will shock many, especially parents.
"O" is able to go so fast and with so much confidence due to the "indoctrination" that have been going on for years… and we have accepted "their" indoctrination becoming blinded. Now many are accostume to follow orders and accept everything.

Gisela, I've been afraid for this country FAR longer than since Obama was elected! He's a SYMPTOM of the LONG TIME 'total moral decay and degradation' that has permeated the U.S. for decades, being increasingly more degraded with nearly every passing day. Our nation has been morally SICK for so long I hardly even recognize it as America any more. His very election was a symptom OF THAT SICKNESS.
America needs to do much more than just 'wake up'. She needs to REPENT and seek God's MERCY and FORGIVENESS! Only then can we as a nation hope for things to be truly better. My pastor feels that the U.S. will be overthrown before the end. I don't know if he's right or not but I PRAY FOR mercy from God and that he will preserve us for as long as possible, hopefully for the return to HIM that I pray and hope for while there's still TIME.

I've seen this coming since I was a small child. This is due to several things, but chief among them are my very political grandparents, who also saw it coming. I cut my teeth on a book of political cartoons they kept in their little library, & listening to the Conservatives they listened to–plus, it was all laid out in the Holy Scriptures, for anyone who bothers to read them.
And later, when I became Eastern Orthodox, I read various saints' prophecies, which are coming true. One, St. Nicholas of Myra, the Myrrh (sp?)-giver, told of what would happen starting in the 19th century–up to such details as the rise of militant homosexuals & the overall degradation & corruption of society. The saints have yet to get anything wrong.
So, as Christ told us to, we "pray without ceasing," & we "look up," because the end is nearly here. We're in for some soul-shattering hurt, my friends, but the rest of that scripture tells us to "rejoice," for the end is near. When that happens, even hard core atheists' knees will bend, unable to deny He is real any longer, the Evidence being right before their eyes!
Just think, billions now living will see Christ's return, & we'd better learn how to love Him, because, (a) He loves us more than we can ever comprehend, so He deserves all our love, & (b), He will judge us all. If the American people had listened to Obama, instead of just hearing him, he was right up front on what he was. I may not be the brightest star in the universe, but if I knew he was a Communist, I don't know why others couldn't see it too.
I also knew that he was not a Christian also, as he seems to be somewhere between being a Muslim and an atheist.. Personally I could care less about his religious beliefs or non-beliefs, but I do care when he starts trashing our Judeo/Christian heritage.
The American people would have seen all of this if they had just paid attention instead of voting on the basis of his looks and skin color.

If, as you stated, everyone had paid attention to what Obama said, he told us exactly what his agenda was. He also told us he was a Muslim. I only hope it is not too late to stop him. I'm not sure what</> he is. I believe HE wants to look "moderate," but in fact, he merely looks clueless much of the time. He bends over backwards & forwards in his effort to paint this picture, but there have been so many times he's just plain been wrong, or has come to the truth long after we better-informed folks have.
I like Bill, & I think he means well, but his lack of deep information & comprehension really bugs me. His ignorance misinforms the largest TV audience in the U.S. There are times I'd like to grab him by the ears & rattle his brains, make him see! I usually can't wait 'til Hannity or Beck puts the real facts out for us to learn. Not only did I realize that BHO was a commie, but I also checked out who he associated with and I knew that there was no way I would cast my vote for this communist! In my 63 years I have never seen the corruption in our government as there is since BHO lied his way into office.
I personally didn't know that the infestation we now have in the White House was a communist although I knew he was pure trouble before he was even elected. Never did I believe that he would get elected. As a matter of fact I told everyone who would listen, even before he got the democratic nomination, "do not vote for and encourage your friends to not vote for this socialist." I was shunned by most of them, but have now been proven more right than ever. This once great nation is in trouble. The worst is yet to happen unless we stand firm and keep telling others. As I believe Ben Franklin once said, "we must hang together or else we will surely hang alone".

Since the Democrats control Congress, there is little to no possibility that they will bring Articles of Impeachment against Obama and his administration before November 2010, and I fear that sometime between now and just before the elections in November 2012, Obama and his minions will either cause or allow to take place a very serious crisis so that he can declare martial law, there by suspending the Constitution which will then allow him to remain in office indefinitely. If We the People are going to act, it MUST be soon I say that we MUST get as many states as possible to declare this Union dissolved.
I fear your opinion because it could easily be a reality. I believe that Obama is purposely provoking some sort of an uproar. Also, in my opinion, he is purposely and vengefully challenging the Constitution – too many challenges in court.; health care, illegal aliens, Bp, black p….The man comes across as a very angry and vengeful person whom we need to fear. Please. You're playing right into his hands; this is EXACTLY the result he's trying to achieve. We must show him that we hold the Constitution and the Union more dear than anything except freedom, and that we will preserve it at all costs. That starts with casting smart votes in November – not just kneejerk throw out the incumbents, but voting to get a three-fourths majority of a single group who will vote for Amendments to return us to our limited government, and Impeachments to not only kick these traitors out, but to ensure that they are executed for treason as well.
I have consistently said since Obama became president (small P for him) that he's a Communist. I'm NOT a real expert on the different types of governments (socialism, fascism, etc). I know some of what they entail. But I REMEMBER what the old USSR looked like from growing up in the 50s. I remember the misery the people lived in, the LONG lines of 'the people' freezing standing out in the horrible winter weather all bundled up to keep as warm as possible as they waited hours to get into a grocery store. They HOPED for something nourishing to buy but of course those in power and their ‘comrades’ kept ALL the good food (and everything else) for themselves, only sending the minimum needed to barely survive to be sold at the grocers. Those poor people would wait for hours usually only getting to buy a loaf of bread or maybe a small piece of meat, etc. (costing most of their meager wages). It was first come, first serve. And there was LITTLE to serve to anyone.
Does the name 'Nikita Khrushchev' ring any bells? And just for the record it's NOT just Obama changing the country. He doesn't have THAT much power just in himself. It's his CZAR'S and his 'shadow government' pulling all the strings. He's been groomed for YEARS since coming to Chicago for just this time. This was NO haphazard 'take over' of the country. It's been in the works for years and finally the citizens were so self-absorbed it was possible to pull it off. I mean if a thief is in your house he can pretty much steal all you have if your eyes are CLOSED!
I still hold out hope and will do so until (and IF) it looks like all hope is gone. I will continue to seek God's MERCY for our beloved country and I encourage all those able to do the same!

Mary, he is not a natural born citizen. You need two parents that are U.S. citizens. His father was not a U.S.citizen, He was a citizen of Kenya and a British subject. Under British law Obama was born a British subject. There have been many lawsuits to make him show his birth certificate and his records from college. He has them all sealed and the courts tell those bringing forth the lawsuits that they have no standing… I am sure there are many in Congress that know he is not eligible to hold the office of president but getting them to impeach him is another story…. I know some of what they entail. But I REMEMBER what the old USSR looked like from growing up in the 50s. I remember the misery the people lived in, the LONG lines of 'the people' freezing standing out in the horrible winter weather all bundled up to keep as warm as possible as they waited hours to get into a grocery store. They HOPED for something nourishing to buy but of course those in power and their ‘comrades’ kept ALL the good food (and everything else) for themselves, only sending the minimum needed to barely survive to be sold at the grocers. Those poor people would wait for hours usually only getting to buy a loaf of bread or maybe a small piece of meat, etc. (costing most of their meager wages). It was first come, first serve. And there was LITTLE to serve to anyone.

It didn't come as a surprise to everyone that Castro was a Communist. I do recall that he was lionized by the majority of the media while our political leaders mostly waited him out. Florida's politicians, for example, were gladdened because Florida was no longer a stopover for tourists on the way to Havana's good times, Florida became the major destination and Georgia became the stopover. That aside, columnist Jim Bishop was one of many that reported Castro and his gang were Communists, that was in 1959 and Castro still holds sway, he must feel pleased that a brother Marxist has finally been installed as our president. Castro probably had hope for LBJ and Bill Clinton but LBJ had an attack of conscience and dropped out, while Bill Clinton chose to party like a Kennedy instead of forcing a Marxist agenda. I suppose some of our politicians recognized Castro was a Communist in 1959 but pointing out someone was a Communist was to invite being treated like Senator McCarthy was earlier in the decade. We don't have a Che Gueverra but we do have Hillary Clinton, she's far the scarier.

I would like to speak my opinion of this administration.. First the president does everything he can TO the USA, mainly because he CAN and he hates us all. He is very angry because 100% of Americans do not agree with his every whim. He will never change his ways as long as those who deliberately did not look into his past and voted him into the WH are still not realizing what he is doing. OR you who did vote for him, are not interested enough in our freedoms to pay attention to WHAT is being done to the United States of America.
