Running for office as a devoted wife and mother of two sons besides Sunday school teacher, Amy Biviano’s campaign has been rocked by the revelation of her appearance in Playboy.
The dictionary definition of hypocritical is the “pretense of having virtues, beliefs, principles, etc.” Many politicians are well described by this adjective; but in 2012, none deserves it more than Amy Biviano.
Biviano has worked hard to transform her image from a Yale educated anthropologist and self-avowed feminist into a suburban mom with an adoring husband.
This is how she describes herself on her own website:
“I am a long-time Spokane Valley resident, a mother, and small business owner… I grew up in a small, close-knit town in Oklahoma, the daughter of a farmer and a public school teacher. I met my husband Andrew in 1993, on our first day of freshman year at Yale University, and we married two months after graduation. We moved to Andrew’s hometown of Spokane Valley in 2001, deciding that it is the ideal place to raise our family. We have now been married almost 15 years and have two incredible sons: Alex, age 13, and Aidan, age 11…I am an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where I teach Sunday school and serve on the finance committee.”
What she doesn’t share in her bio is her work as a model for Playboy. She appeared in the October 1995 issue of the Men’s soft porno magazine as part of a special spread on “The Women of the Ivy League.”
Amy Biviano until now has been a darling of the Democratic Party in Washington State. After serving as the Chairman of the Democrats in Spokane County, she is now locked in a race to unseat conservative favorite Representative Matt Shea in the 4th Legislative District which stretches across the Spokane Valley.
Usually a conservative stronghold, this year, liberals on the state redistricting committee have redrawn the 4th district lines to make it competitive for Amy Biviano.
Ironically, a central theme of her campaign has been repeated demands that Representative Shea tell all about his past. She is referring to Shea’s divorce from first wife Lisa. This is well-trod turf with Democrats and the local liberal media bringing up his divorce in every one of his earlier campaigns. They claim that the breakdown of his first marriage is fair game because Representative Shea is the Legislature’s biggest opponent of gay marriage.
It is appropriate since she is demanding answers from Shea’s past that she fully disclose her own. She tells Playboy in the interview that accompanies the photo spread that she is a feminist, saying, “I wanted to pose for Playboy to show that we’re not asexual man-haters.” She also told Playboy that her future plans as an Anthropologist included a desire to study sex in other cultures around the globe.
None of her high profile work as a Playboy model is in her currently-posted biography. Her attempts to hide this episode in her life from voters’ view until now have come to an end.

Hey Chaos, you forgot one minor detail! The “people” paid for all of that! Most of us don’t mind paying for roads and other expenses that we all benefit from. Ignoramis? you analogy of a fire department (and local services in general is pure crap). Socialism (aka Communism) is a form of centralized national government and not very good at that. Lets take the fire department since you mention it. Fire departments are operated by a variety of means including public such as municipal and fire districts (which are recognised as local government entities for legal purposes) and private operations like, subscription service, clubs, associations and even congregations (that’s a church in case your unfamiliar). The levels and types of service provided vary from community to community based on needs and what that community can afford, not a one approach fits all.
No one person could afford to staff a fully functional fire department to serve there own home nor is it practical, however by recognizing a need and pooling resources it then becomes feasible to have a fire department that in turn is controlled and operated at that local level by the very people who it serves. There’s nothing solcialist about it at all. It’s about people (not government) helping fellow neighbors.

From what little I know about the candidates there is no way I would vote for her because of her political philosophy alone, if I lived in that district. Jesus had no problem forgiving and cleansing Mary Magdlene. I can only speculate that her maintaining of a fairly long marriage and the raising of two sons might indicate that she may be repentant concerning her past indiscretions, which are now 17 years old. If she has sought and received His forgiveness is a matter best left between her, her family and the Lord. (Her sons may now have to deal with something very painful which is unfortunate.) If you, yourself are perfect (without sin) then you can call someone out on their sin. But since there are no perfect humans, we should just stick to the issues. Do you think that this would not have been investigated or brought up had her campaign committee not been pushing for the release of her opponent’s divorce records? His failed marriage may or may not have been in his control, however when dealing with marriages and divorces, there are always two people involved in which one has no control over the others actions. The fact that this lady tried to imply that she is the good wholesome daughter of a farmer, caring school teacher and affiliated with a religion yet forget to list her modeling career implies that she intentionally and willfully lie to the public. If her modeling career consisted of modeling for louis Vuitton or some high profile ,highly respectable clothing designer other than Victoria Secret she would listed it without hesitation. She claimed that she modeled for Playboy to make a statement, apparently a statement she is not so proud of now a days, or is still proud of but deep down knows that it is immoral and likely the majority wouldn’t approve of her modeling career. If she thought it would help her political career, no doubt she would have listed it.
It has become overwhelmingly apparent that the left is infatuated with sex and nothing is more important than promiscuity and immoral acts of sexual behavior because it seems to be their primary platform in any topic. When dealing with education, the left always throws in the need for free contraceptives to minors and children, abortions for minors and children without parental approval or even knowledge of such, implementation of homosexual classes made mandatory as a part of child’s education, promote promiscuity rather than promoting abstinence. It is not mandatory to know both American and foreign History, the constitution, or civics, however, they better have full and complete comprehension of sexual promiscuity and immoral acts.
Not only when dealing with education, but when the left is conversing on the topic of healthcare, their biggest concern is all about contraceptives and abortions and spreading STD’s due to their outlook on promiscuity and exploring their sexuality notions of homosexual explorations. When the left argues about healthcare it is about free or tax payer paid contraceptives and abortions and free medical care for STD’s, but never mention or argument to supply free healthcare for people with diabetes, or these elderly folks who are paying $500 plus dollars a bottle for meds every few weeks just to keep them alive and they have to eat cans of dog food because their entire budget is spent on meds just to stay alive and hope to wake the next morning.

I didn’t state what basis or grounds divorces were founded on, I stated that 70% of all marriages end in divorce in this Country, however I didn’t state the grounds by which they were founded, you need to get on the same page, your off in left field wandering around and missing the point. My point is regardless of grounds, who gives a crap who is divorced, a failed marriage for one doesn’t mean a person cannot perform a job. just because someone is a bad husband or wife or bad father or mother don’t mean they are bad at business or finances and so on. Furthermore, just because a person is divorced doesn’t mean that person is at fault for the divorce. I know people who have bent over backwards to satisfy their spouse to the best of their ability, but regardless to what one person does or tries to do when dealing with marriages to make it lasting and successful, if the work, dedication, love and loyalty to the institution of matrimony is not mutual then it ends in a divorce eventually.

How about this concept, instead of spending a campaign season based on attacking and talking about the rights past divorces and such, try talking about their (lefts) abilities as a Democrat to run an office. While you may have a problem with Amy Biviano posing for Playboy. I don’t. That being said, it is inaccurate reporting to say that the 4th LD is anywhere near competitive. AFTER redistricting, John McCain won the 4th in 2008 54.9% to Obama’s 42.5%. Keep in mind that Obama won Washington state 57.7% to McCain’s 40.5% and won nationally 53% to 45.7%. Also, Patty Murray lost the NEW 4th LD in 2010 38.3% to Rossi’s 61.7%, while winning the state 52.4% to Rossi’s 47.6%. The NEW 4th LD is about 14% more Republican (meaning a gap of 28%) than the rest of the state. Please don’t mislead your readers into thinking that Shea is in any electoral danger. To show how completely noncompetitive this LD is, the two other Republican incumbents running in the 4th LD, WA Sen. Padden and WA Rep. Crouse, are running unopposed. There is no need to try to drum up support for Shea, financial or otherwise, since Biviano never had a chance of winning.
You don’t know what you are talking about. The census was in 2010, and redistricting based on the census was just completed this year. The elections you site are all pre-redistricting.
Actually I do as someone who testified before the Redistricting Commission. In Washington state, all of the area is broken down into precincts not exceeding 1,500 active registered voters and there is precinct by precinct voting histories, i.e. (using one from the 4th LD) precinct 4419 voted for 46.0% for Obama and 50.8% for McCain, while voting for 45.3% for Murray and 54.7% for Rossi in 2010. Each precinct like this has its own archived voting history. While the 4th LD might have gained some precincts from this LD and lost some to that LD, those precincts too have their own voting history. Thus, if you’re being rigorous, you can add up all of the precincts AFTER redistricting to gauge how that NEW LD would have performed in the past and how it would perform in the future. That is what I did using what information is out there.

Please do your homework before criticizing others. Also, use your common sense, if the 4th LD had become so much more competitive AFTER redistricting, then Democrats wouldn’t have given a free ride to 2 of the 3 Republican incumbents? Come on, think about it.

Personally I have no problem with what a person over the age of consent decides to do … at least to some extent. I have no problem with the picture shown or the lifestyle that often attends this type of behavior.
However … I think it shows a lack of intelligence and consideration for others to … be a “Mom”, and a Sunday School Teacher who is active in her Church and then … having this relatively large skeleton in her closet, decides to run for Government Office.
I would guess that no matter how her District was gerrymandered, the Democrats can sort of hang up their plans this time around. Then there’s her 13 and 11 year old boys who will have to endure the comments from their friends as well as their own adolescent thoughts. Then there’s her congregation and … Sunday School students and the parents thereof.
I would be rather surprised if this “revelation” doesn’t pretty much guarantee that she is no longer welcome in much of her normal civilian activities in Spokane Valley never mind any political aspirations she might have had. Better yet, her cover has been blown in her husband’s “home town” …
This is not Italy or Europe where something like this will actually work in her favor.
I think if I had a skeleton of that size in my closet, and I knew that its coming out would hurt and disturb quite so many people, I would have considered it wise to stay out of the public spotlight no matter how I felt politically.
With a spread like that, she could have made hay by flaunting it in every political ad and creamed her opponent. Instead, she hides her past (along with her body) and hopes (I would have said “prays” were that appropriate for a Demolib.) the mountains will come to Mohamed. Hey, Sweetcakes, if you want full disclosure, demonstrate that that by doing the same.

Wow. Who among us is perfect? Certainly, not I. But what a thing for her family to endure. Hubby may have known about it way back when, but her teen and preteen sons are going to be hard put to live this down at school. The Presbyterian church long ago converted to the Social Gospel and ignores Christianity as a whole. That is why they have no trouble identifying with the democrat party. They ignore the bible and make up their religion as they go. There is no problem with gay marriage, abortion, or homosexual ministers for them. God is reserving a special place for them, a very hot place.

The fact she posed for these pictures is proof that good looks and intellectual ability have little to do with the making of wise decisions. At the time, she probably thought it would make her a little extra money then fade into the sunset. A person can have a good education and remain stupid. As most farmers now, the seed you sow will become the crop you harvest. So, what now? Do we bury our heads in the sand, or do we stand tall and step into today’s awesome opportunities? As for the demands to see her opponents past brought into the open, perhaps that would be fair, since this candidate is obviously not involved in a cover-up.

It’s not the fact that she posed for Playboy mostly nude, tastefully done though I must say, but the fact that she intentionally hid it from the voters rather than just ‘fess up to it up front. Failing to do so wasn’t smart which is a direct reflection of her character and ability because anyone with even half a brain knows that in a run for public office nothing is off limits unless you happen to possess black genetic code and your a demoncrat (read Obama). Whatever skeleton you have hidden in the closet will most likely be found out, it will be exposed, dragged out and put on display for everyone to look at especially in this case.
That will only lead to a feeling of distrust among voters whence they will wonder if there’s anything else she’s hiding of if she can be trusted to be truthful with them rather than wait to be caught in a lie or coverup. The current Obama regime and the demoncrats in general have earned the reputation of being liars, one and all, who cannot be trusted no matter what. I find it amazing that the old and young biddies of the demoncratic party are all up in arms because they are not pretty enough to have appeared in Playboy. Given the selection of who leads the demoncratic party in the way of women, I am not surprised that these biddies are all upset.
I think she has proven herself worthy of the position she is running for, she has proven herself to be worthy of the office she is seeking and now because she has brains and is attractive, the evils of the other party will do anything to prevent a worthy candidate from getting in the office and beginning to turn the office around like she did her life.
