Prior to Super Tuesday, political pundits speculated the Republican nomination for president could still be a three-man race between Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump.
In the aftermath of Trump’s major victories on Tuesday, and the strong second place finish of Ted Cruz, some are now expecting the race to narrow even further.
Now, just hours hours before the next Republican debate, Sen. Rubio has cancelled two scheduled campaign events, creating suspicion that he might be the next to drop.

Originally set to appear in Baton Rouge, La., and Lexington, Ky., the Rubio campaign cancelled both events on such short notice that people are still able to register for the events over Eventbrite. What’s more, the campaign offered no reason for the cancellation with the venues.
Out of the three top Republican contenders for nominee, Rubio only managed to secure one victory in Minnesota, building his delegate count to 110. Comparatively, Trump sits at 319 so far with Cruz at 226.
If Rubio were to drop, it is highly possible he would endorse Cruz to prevent Trump from securing the nomination, and if the current numbers are any indication, that might give Cruz a reasonable chance at defeating the current front-runner.

In addition to the possibility that Rubio might be dropping, it is also possible his campaign simply sees no strategic value to the events and instead wants to focus its attention where it will have a bigger impact.
The Rubio campaign still has an event scheduled for Kansas on Friday.
