No one who followed politics twenty years ago will forget the night when Clarence Thomas sent an electric charge through a Senate hearing room. As liberal Democrats pushed the unproven sexual harassment charges of Anita Hill in an attempt to destroy Thomas’s chance to serve on the Supreme Court, Thomas called them out for conducting a national disgrace. “This is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves.”
This line packed a wallop because Hill’s charges were about as proven as the old charges of perverted indecency against white women that were concocted by racists. Whether her claims were true was utterly irrelevant to liberals. All that mattered is that Thomas be ruined, and that black conservatives be denied a role model so prominent and so accomplished.
Twenty years later, it sounds like an echo. Once again, the liberal media have provided an unproven charge (of unknown severity) of sexual harassment, filed by two anonymous women who allegedly settled complaints with the National Restaurant Association in 1999. The newspaper Politico offered an incredibly vague story that somehow required four reporters to compile.
This is how vague the claims were, and which Politico rushed to publish. They allege there were “conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature,” and also “descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual” but made women uncomfortable. What does all this mean? At least in Hill’s case she was making wacky but specific charges about Long Dong Silver. But who cares? All that matters is that Cain’s presidential campaign is ruined just as it reached its height. Black conservatives must be denied a role model this prominent and successful.
Within two days, NBC’s Ann Curry was leading off the “Today” show with this thermonuclear question about Cain: “Will the controversy and his reaction to it derail his presidential campaign?”

The dirt machine of the left is in full swing. They are only making Mr Cain more popular, with people who are wise to the smear campaign, levied against a top runner. They are afraid to match his past with their candidate, because Cain would excel in all issues.

I don't know the details of this controversy, but I know liberals. They are scandal waiting to be found! Unfortunately, Herman Cain was ill-prepared to deal with this, and he should have been savvy enough to know it would be coming. He claims he does not know the details of the "payoff" to these women, but IMHO, he should have known. Most people think "payoff = guilty." But, what the heck, don't they all do it? It has become quite fashionable for politicians to drag themselves and their families through humiliating scandals. Cain's 20-year-old harassment case doesn't bother me nearly as much as his undying love for the unconstitutional Federal Reserve, which he still defends.
Does Herman Cain's saga not resemble that of Sarah Palin? No sooner than she became a front runner, the dirt on her started hitting the press. The libs will stop at nothing. MSM is at it again. And our country is left all the poorer.
Well Herman Cain's hi-tech lynching now includes illegal campaign contributions from the Koch Brothers.
How about all conservatives get together for a month or so, answer the all the pollsters that Ron Paul is their favorite, and see if the media-Scribes can find any dirt on him. I am guessing that they cannot.
Otherwise, it's back to another flavor of the week.
Herman Cain will not be withdrawing his name.. The majority of Americans have been desensitized regarding "sex scandles." Hello, Bill Clinton. Ted Kennedy never tried to save Mary Jo & didn't report the "accident" for over half a day. And what do we really know about Obama?! — All this talk about somethings that MIGHT have happened OVER 10 years ago only detracts from talking about the vital issues. Which is what Obama wants to take the focus away from him. So, let's get back to our nation's important problems & their solutions.
