When reading one of the endless stories about a just-released poll Thursday night, a pair of numbers struck my eye: 60 and 37.
Those were the percentages of white voters supporting Mitt Romney and Barack Obama in the ABC/Washington Post tracking poll. Overall, the poll showed Romney leading Obama 50 to 47 percent.
The reason those two numbers struck my eye is that they are identical to the percentages of white voters supporting Republicans and Democrats in elections for the House of Representatives in the 2010 exit poll. Overall, Republicans won the House popular vote by a margin of 52 to 45 percent, tied with 1994 for the best Republican showing since 1946.
In fact, it’s the Republicans’ biggest margin among white voters in House elections ever since the party was formed in 1854. Republican presidential candidates have won by bigger margins among whites only in 1920, 1972 and 1984.
Some will ascribe this to racism. But Barack Obama won enough votes from whites to win with 53 percent in 2008, more than any other Democratic nominee except Andrew Jackson, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson.

Polls should be outlawed. There should bo no election coverage untilALL votes are counted. Then the winner announced. No reason for people to know who is ahead or behind

This poll shows white voters voting for Romney at 60%. And some ascribe this to racism. That’s absolutely ridiclous. It has NOTHING to do with race. Just look at Obama’s record. Look at it. Do your homework. Obama is hurting the black community more than anyone. This is from the Black Republican PAC: “1) 14% unemployment against the black community under obama’s presidency. 2) 41% unemployment amongst black teenagers. 3) 53% of wealth lost by blacks under obama’s presidency.” The real unemployment rate in America is 11% to 14% under obama. I’m really sick and tired hearing the race card!!!! Oblahblah does not have a record to run on. If he was white, I would not vote for him either!!!!
So 60% of whites voting for Romney is racism, but 90% of blacks voted for Obama in 2008 and that’s not?? It had been a good long time since I had heard that term before Obama showed up. He divided Americans (divide & conquer) for his own personal benefit. As far as he’s concerned, we’re not Americans; we’re whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, christians, and jews. That way he can set us upon each other, also for his benefit.
