I went through this very thing during the election trying to tell people that Romney was just another Liberal calling himself a Republican and I gave HUNDREDS of examples. Know what I got called? Know the flak and vile names I took? I’ve said these things about others too, and it also hits a brick wall with people, who only gets mad and starts flaming me. I didn’t like what Christie did publicly with Obama. However, it is my understanding that for years children of public figures have been off limits. So, in this case, I think he is right. I am an NRA supporter, but to run the add using the Presidents children really wasn’t the strongest point to support their position. I don’t think any previous Presidents have sent their children to scholl without some kind of security for them.
You miss the point. The people are the rulers of America. We have as much right to have our kids protected at schools as the Muslim fraud in the White House. For the creature to employ 12 secret service agents on our nickel to guard his kids at school while denying that right to every American, is treason. He works for us, the little pansy dictator. Everyone that is saying that the NRA is using Obama’s kids is missing the point! It isn’t that his kids have protection, that’s necessary and right. It’s that if you want to protect your kids (Obama’s, Christie’s or your own) you need to take whatever is necessary to make them safe. If that is armed guards then so be it. They have decided, and correctly I believe, that armed guards are necessary for Obama’s kids and Christie’s kids, great right decision, now I want them for my kids too because that is what it takes to make them safe. No amount of gun restrictions will make them safer than an armed person in the schools. It IS good enough for Obama and Christie and it IS good enough for everyone else, after all who is paying the taxes for those schools and education anyway!!

What did trouble me a few months ago before Christy started beating up on the NRA, was his callous disregard for people he criticized. He did it brutally and without need. I forget the precise circumstances but I recall thinking that the way he blasted people who were not necessarily politicians but ordinary people caught up in extraordinary situations was just plain “fatheaded stupidity,” to use a term that Christy, himself, might have used to bruise and batter other folks.
Like “his” state was the only one in the union that even mattered. Other states have their own difficulties these days Chrissy, thanx to your lord and savior “Barry”

The Gov. missed the entire point that is being made. The complaint is: The politicians feel comfortable in allowing armed guards to protect the schools their children attend. Yet are using their powers to block the people they are suppose be serving from doing the same. If Mr. Christie thinks that his children are more unsafe in New Jersey than the children are in Memphis, Tn. he is mistaken and misinformed. Gimmicks have no place in politics. People are too informed these days. All children in the U S A are in danger, we must take steps to protect all of them. If it means arming the teachers or putting guards in the schools, then that is what is needed.The gimmick and self serving suggestions, etc. changing clip sizes are insulting the intelligence of the American citizens. I haven’t had any respect for Christie since Hurrican Sandy swept in. However, I do agree with alot of what he is saying here – children should be off limits in politics. Yes, I saw the same grandstanding Obama used in signing those orders, and said the same thing about him, that he was wrong in using those kids that “wrote him letters” as props. What the NRA was saying is true -however, stoking the fire and giving gun control advocates ANY fuel to use is not smart marketing. We need to be smarter than that.

We receive the Philadelphia television and radio stations, and follow the Philadelphia professional sports teams (many of the Phillies’, Eagles’, and Flyers’ players live on this side of the river, not in Pennsylvania, and the Flyers have had their practice facilities in South Jersey for decades). North Jersey?
How long have the New York Giants been playing in North Jersey?
Heck, in 1980, we had a referendum (unfortunately non-binding, owing to the state’s constitution) on the ballot in the eight southern counties, calling the question as to whether or not we should separate and establish our own state. Ocean County voted to remain the the Noo Yawkuhs. Burlington County couldn’t get a majority either way.
The other six counties voted for secession. The sentiments haven’t changed since then. We get bled so heavily by Trenton, and served so badly, that it’d be to our benefit to get off on our own.
And down here, while the Republicans are still spineless and brainless, they’re not quite as bad as the faux-Democrats passing for “Republicans” in Noo Yawk’s western annex.

Thanks I enjoyed the read. I actually read a couple of things I didn’t know, and that was great.
From my standpoint from where I live, we here don’t see any difference much in ya’ll folk up there. Even what you consider conservative there is not very conservative here. And to be fair, I’ve seen several people, especially Pennsylvanians that moves to NC, who were conservatives, say they didn’t fully understand what real conservatism was until they moved here. Most all those conservatives have told me they much preferred the style of conservatism here over where they were. But I am sure many others don’t and I have heard a couple say so, but that was rare. Oddly some Pennsylvanians got defensive or agitated about their Northern version and said it was make believe or false conservatism they had lead into there. Odd they got riled over it but true… This is another reason I put little faith in politics as it concerns the two parties. Either party that gets it will have a liberal for president, as we in the South have been shut out of real conservative politics for years. Latest example being Ron Paul, and he was originally from PA but is considered a Southern politician here because he actually campaigns as the old Southern style politicians did years ago.
Another good person who is not a politician but would readily be accepted as Southern politician is Judge Andrew Napolitano. He was the only person I ever cared to see on FOX News, if I had ever looked at TV. Many people here fell the same about him. Sadly no such people as Paul or Napolitano will ever make it in the Republican Party as they will be shut out just as Paul was the last election. And it is known Paul was cheated out of thousands of votes. Then you also see what Romney done to the TEA Party side, which included people like Paul during the convention, when they were making new rules. No Southern style or Libertarian style politician will ever be allowed to equally compete in any presidential election.
As for North and South Jersey. I thought the Puritans eventually took political control over the whole place, especially with their splintering of denominations? Most Fundamentalist denominations you see in this country today as well as other religions such as the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witness are offshoots from the Puritans and the Quakers. Both are a pretty bad bunch, especially the Puritans.

I remember when Richard Burr (supposedly a real conservative, but is not) was a 1st congressman and I worked in his campaign. After the election he dismissed all his conservative staff members and replaced them with liberals. In a disagreement I had with him, to make a long story short, he told me it didn’t matter about the bill in question being lawful, but it was what the people wanted and he was gonna vote for it. (Sadly there was about as many people that didn’t want the bill as did, but he needed an excuse.) He told me to drop the subject as his mind was made up.

Gotta understand from a Southern perspective, we never saw much difference between Northern Republicans and Northern Democrats, not even years ago, since Wilson’s time. However as the Democrat party became more Marxist and the Republican Party pretended to be more conservative, the Northern Republicans and Democrats looked more and more the same to the hard core Southerner. And many Southerners tried to stick with the Democrat Party out past family allegiance which was nothing but a sham pulled on them by the Democrats. Then Nixon had his “Southern Strategy” in which he tried to make himself and Republicans appear to be more conservative than the fast changing Democrat Party which was then going full tilt towards Marxism. What were the misled Southern voters to do? All they could do was vote for the lesser of two evils and that’s what the Republican Party appeared to be the less evil. In the SOuth the conservative Democrats abandon to the Democrat Party and went to the Republican Party, all because of the image of being more conservative. Therefore the Republican Party in the South and even the West had much more devoted hard core conservatives in it than the Northern Republican Party. So what I see form FAT Chrissy is no different than what I saw from RomneyBOT. Many Southerners and others saw the same thing. This kept many people from voting for any presidential candidate. Obama took advantage of this, and along with his cheating won the election. Although he had much help from peopel that already determined him to be president.

Oh yes, these are very special people indeed. If you owned a company wouuld you hire these people to work for you? Then why do you allow them to run your Country?
That is absolutely astounding information that should be posted everywhere. I do not want these types of people in government. I guess since you don’t have to be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN of the US to be POTUS, I guess you don’t have to be a law abiding citizen to be a member congress? This is exactly the message they are sending. We are really in need of a revolution here to clean out the garbage and set it to the curb. Is anybody else sick and tired of this BS?

It tends to be. The professional government thugs – particularly America’s “only native criminal class,” the Congress – is hated all over the nation. I don’t know of anybody even remotely literate who defends the conduct of our governing class except those on the public payroll, and they’re lying to no purpose other than keeping up the long con.
I consider it something of a miracle of forbearance that in a republic like ours, with our traditions and the number of accurate longarms in private hands, that somebody hasn’t begun to do an Unintended Consequences on these arrogant authoritarians, putting little Spitzer-shaped lumps of lead between their ears in .30-06 or .308 caliber.
If any of us has a private personal “Better Off Dead List,” I’m absolutely certain that a bunch of congresscritters are prominent thereupon.

Allen West was a leader and a man to admired. He was a great man and I am now shaking my head in pity and disbelief at how such evil could overcome such good. And that is another reason this country is doomed, when someone so obviously bad can beat someone so obviously good. I had such hopes for Gov. Christie when he first appeared on the scene. Yes, now I am also tired of him brownnosing Obama. He’s not stupid. If he can’t or won’t understand that the NRA was just responding to Obama’s misuse of little children to advance his agenda of firearms confiscation then there is something seriously wrong with Christie’s judgment. I’m now waiting for Christie to pull an Arlen Spector and become a Democrat.

Well, y’know what they say about good intentions. Look, I [b][i]am[/i][/b] visually impaired. D’you know what us visually impaired people actually do when we’re on the computer?
We change the screen resolution so that we can read what’s on the monitor. That’s one of the principal reasons why I’ve done most of my book reading over the past several years on my antique desktop. I can crank up the size of the characters until there’s no eyestrain, and there’s absolutely no benefit to having anything in ALL CAPS.
As a matter of fact, because ALL CAPS is so customarily used only for emphasis in plain text settings where hypertext markup language (HTML) encoding isn’t possible for italics and boldface, reading ALL CAPS gives me a headache. It really is automatically interpreted as SHOUTING.
So take off your “Caps Lock” and go back to entering text as if you were typing a letter. It’s not really necessary to do ALL CAPS.

Gad, I’ve just demonstrated why HTML is a bit difficult to use. Some sites have comments programs that use square brackets ([whatever]) and others use the standard wedgies (). Nice example of what happens when you go back and forth between such sites.
Your grandson’s experience notwithstanding (and if Einstein were alive and on the Web today, he’d have problems dealing with screen resolution, as he was notoriously impractical when it came to the simple stuff), those who are really visually impaired can (indeed, must) get other people to rig the settings on their computer displays for them. You think Stephen Hawking (who’s been dealing with ALS for decades) ever programmed the computers he’s been using to access information and communicate with the world?
What you’re doing is a “Nice-But-Not-Needed” kind of thing, and despite your “connection to an eye clinic” and the fact that in extraordinary (as in vanishingly uncommon) cases of visual dysfunction to the degree that an ALL CAPS presentation may be useful, there are even software fixes that can be implemented to translate standard text to ALL CAPS on the viewer’s own monitor.
(Er, did I mention that I’m a medical doctor who’s spent some several decades diagnosing and treating patients whose presentations include sensory impairment of all kinds?)
