By Michele Bachmann- According to a new survey by Rasmussen, seven out of 10 Americans are opposed to bailing out the struggling newspaper industry like we did Wall Street and the automobile industry. This is up from 65% from a survey done in March 2009.
According to a new survey by Rasmussen, seven out of 10 Americans are opposed to bailing out the struggling newspaper industry like we did Wall Street and the automobile industry. This is up from 65% from a survey done in March 2009.The key take away in all this is that Americans oppose the government getting involved in financially sustaining the industry due in large part to the concern that newspapers will be less likely to report objectively on government officials and policies. I think that’s a legitimate concern. After all, it’s not smart to bite the hand that feeds you. Another interesting finding is that an overwhelming 85% of Americans believe that maintaining freedom of the press is more important than supporting the newspaper industry.

It's no accident that news papers are failing, they are failing us. Now we want them to fail.
No bail-outs, no free money. Let them fail now. I'm sure they will be replaced by companies that will report the real direction of what is happening and re-hire investigative reporters.
Enough of these bail outs. There shouldn't have been any in the first place. They don't work.

Yes let them fail. I have satellite and have to pay extra for the news channels. After the election in 08 I called and cancelled ABC, CBS and NBC (I despise that outfit) also tried to cancel CNN but could not do so because it is part of my basic package!!! I also stopped my daily newspaper. At the time I canceled I made the statement that I would not pay for media that told the news as they wanted it to be (in othere words tell lies) instead of giving the actual news!!! Needless to say all I watch is FOX NEWS.

There are no ways that they can help the newspaper by giving them a bailout. One thing as all bail outs so far the top cheese will get their cut before any money see the end. Newspapers are on the way out as alot of other things. The people that buy the papers are the ones that control it. No buyers and the paper goes under. If you remember during your life time that you were able to buy certain things and thru the years these items disappeared. That the route of the newspapers.
