The following story took place in San Francisco, which likely explains much of the pandering to the gay community; but it also serves as further evidence a sinful world is continually creeping into this nation’s places of worship.
Father Brian Costello of the Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church recently announced his decision to take down a photograph of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI after receiving threats from gay rights activists.
According to a news release sent to his parishioners, Costello said he moved the portrait from his rectory to the main church area after the pontiff announced his impending retirement.
“A handful of people told me that they would rather it not be there,” Costello wrote, noting their concern that “while he was Pope, as well as his time as a Cardinal, Pope Benedict had made hurtful and hateful statements regarding the LGBT Community.”
For his part, Costello actually represents a move to the right compared to his predecessor at the parish, Rev. Steve Meriwether.
While Meriwether engaged in a celebration of the homosexual lifestyle – i.e. hosting drag queens and sex toy giveaways at the church and blessing Gay Pride marchers with holy water – Costello made waves when he tried to reign in the lewd desecration of the church.
Still, he showed his true allegiance when he caved to societal pressures and denied the resolute (and sometimes unpopular) tenets of his faith.
In his bulletin, Costello encouraged parishioners to “forgive, and embrace the Pope and the Church, even when they don’t accept us.”
How intolerant is the former Pope on the issue of homosexuality? Shockingly, he dares to uphold the church’s stated belief of more than two millennia.
Gays “must not be discriminated against,” he said in an interview, though he stated “sexuality has an intrinsic meaning and direction, which is not homosexual.”
One wonders if the cross will be the next “offensive” artifact removed from America’s watered-down, politically correct, and increasingly ineffective churches.

Its sad to see that a priest would fall for the BS of the Gay activist. They are becoming more and more active because of that reason………..people giving into their demands. STOP IT just STOP IT
I agree. Too many priests, ministers, and pastors are giving in to the evil that men do, instead of holding tight to their faith and the words of the Bible. It is not for me to judge other’s actions and decisions, but I do not want to be among those who knowingly violate the words of the Bible
It’s not for me to judge, either, but in the Bible the people who betrayed Christ, like Judas, did it for 30 pieces of silver. A lot of times these pastors of Catholic Parishes refuse to really stand up for Chirst on the pulpit for fear of losing their tax exempt status. Well, that sounds like betraying Christ for money, like 30 pieces of silver. It all began wih 30 pieces of silver and it has spiraled out of control. Someday, which is very soon, Christ will come back and restore things back to the right way, His way. We always need to pray for our Clergy because they are under assault by the devil more than the laity. So, I pray hard for the Catholic Clergy and all Christian Clergy.
I agree Lani. Everyone is so afraid to offend anyone. It makes me sick to see this priest give in. I am sick of the whiners. If you don’t like my church, don’t go there.
Mr. Costello should remove his collar and go jump in bed with his gay buddies.

BUT they want to promote their Perverse Evil lifestyle as alternate lifestyle, It is just them trying to
make themselves seem normal.
The problem with such things goes much deeper than just the Catholic Church. Many so-called Christian churches are afraid to offend anyone by telling the truth. We have a large church near us that falls under that category. We still can’t tell if they are Christian after 5 years of living here. They celebrate a “Spring Festival”, not Easter, and they do not have one thing that references Jesus Christ on their building. They celebrate Santa Claus at Christmas and call themselves a “Family Worship Center”. What are they worshipping? It isn’t anything I can recognize. Most of these churches need to get some backbone and conviction and teach the gospel according to the Bible and Christ’s teachings, and not be worried about people being offended who don’t want to be taught what is right.
It’s time these Sexual Deviant people are told that they are a sick bunch and that their Deviant Behavior is not accepted by any person with good Morals, Catholic or not and all good priests bishops,cardinals and our new great pope and God! The above named church needs to put the picture back up and tell everyone that all Homosexuals are a sick Sexual Deviant Bunch of people who will go to hell forever if they do not change their Sick Life Style and beg for forgiveness and anyone who has a problem with that can stay away from real churches that go by the teachings of God and if they cause any type of problem that they will be arrested and when convicted go to jail and trespassed at that church for life! They already have plenty of their own Phony churches and need to be in them even though it’s a waste of time!
Notre Dame & Georgetown Universities, a few years ago when Obama spoke there, removed Icons & religious articles that supposedly offended him…..the request came from the White House – these were in the schools’ auditorium’s – that the schools caved was offensive to say the least. (I was offended by the schools, not by Obama, he was making a point at the expense of the Catholic church and schools).
That gays would ask a Priest to remove a picture of Pope Benedict from the church and be catered to, is absolutely infuriating. Don’t gays know that sitting in a Catholic church does not make them worthy to go to heaven, in God’s eyes, any more than sitting in a garage makes them cars.
I realize it was a power play by this group who are now heady with their recent, past successes. (I am ashamed of the spineless priest who removed the Pope’s picture). Benedict was God’s successor on earth and what they did, mocked God and God will not be mocked as you will ultimtely learn.
Obama should never have been invited considering that he is himself probably a Closet Homosexual and for sure a God Hating Muslim, but at the least they should have doubled up on everything this sick animal wanted removed! I wonder how Obama and Michelle will react when some Sick Dike sets site on their kids and trains them to maybe grow into real dikes themselves and go after other children! The world was a better place when they were in the closet and only committed sick acts on each other and the few who went after normal people or kids were arrested and put in prison for a long time and every normal person knew they were Sick people and everyone knew God was sending them all to hell if they didn’t ask for forgiveness and change!
Yeah…I’d say the Catholic Church still has alot of problems. And, by this I’d also say that maybe this Church should be closed or, at least send someone in who stands up for himself and the Church. Pathetic results from a man who supposedly gave his life up for Christ and not the world.

Were you one of the Homosexual boys who didn’t relise he was damaged till after talking to an Attorney or have you not found an Attorney like that yet. Instead of one maybe you should become part of an experment to find out what defect causes you to be such a low life!
Homosexuals are human beings whose faulty DNA attracts them to their own gender. They should be treated like any other human being with respect but somehow homosexuals do not see themselves as being born with an impediment much like a child born crippled or pyschologically impaired. Heterosexuals marry to reproduce a family and the benefits that go with it and homosexuals do not and while they can achieve equal legal status desire to emulate something they are not…to be a married couple and live happily ever after like the story books read to them as a child. Sodom and Gomorrah, admittedly an extreme example of such deviancy is in the bible to let us know instinctively where such behaviour can lead to in a community.

“Catholic” doesn’t mean “popular”!! Sounds like the priest opted for popularity over his Roman Catholic Faith! Pray for him and for all priests who are under constant attack by Satan and his cohort. Pray for our new Pope Francis I, who has a big job ahead of him. Catholics, stand proud! xx
