An immigration enforcement activist doesn’t believe a new poll that shows a majority of Americans now favor amnesty for illegal aliens.
According to the Associated Press-GfK poll, more than 60 percent of Americans now favor a pathway to citizenship for the illegal immigrants already in the country. That is a significantly higher number than last time the AP polled on the question — in 2010, just 50 percent supported the idea.
The poll claims the turnaround has excelled as Republicans change their views. A majority in the GOP — 53 percent — now reportedly favor allowing illegal aliens a path to citizenship. That is up 22 percentage points from 2010.
William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), contends the AP poll is extremely biased.
“The Associated Press is renowned [for being] in favor of the pro-illegal immigration camp, and so their poll has no credibility,” he asserts, “especially considering the numerous scientific and certified polls we have … that show approximately 66 percent of Americans oppose any path to citizenship for illegal immigrants; 33 [percent] support.”

We are already over populated here in the US. They are using up our natural resources, squatters on our land, using our system…why should I pay to give them food stamps and educated their children? I don’t owe them a thing…..they should stay in their country and build it up or stop having all those kids. We have helped too many people in this world and a lot of them don’t appreciate us or they still hate us. Time to pull the plug and take care of our own. We have a lot of homeless people here to help. Let’s start with foreign aid as an example.
I agree, Barbie, that amnesty is a horrible idea. You are right about many of the illegal aliens taking advantage of our system and its’ benefits. However, there are many businesses here in the U.S. that have been using this workforce to their advantage, and have been making this whole situation much worse. Throwing them all out at once would likely have a catastrophic effect on the economy. Maybe there is a way to provide some sort of legitimate system, in lieu of citizenship, which would be beneficial to everyone.
I realize there are a lot of business that hire them for cheap help…that takes jobs away from American citizens, but we the tax payer end up paying the balance that they get n free medical, food stamps, etc because they are not making a liveable wage also the fact that they have a zillion kids that we have to support in free breakfast, lunch, addition education to teach them english…I feel it’s not fair that we are made to pay for it…the businessman that hires them should pay for it, after all they get tax write offs and we don’t. Do we get free medical? Hell no…we have to struggle to pay our own medical bills and medications.
Who are the poll takers asking… the Illegals themselves? Figures… no wonder there are so many. Dang.. even an idiot can see that.
It seems like there are plenty of jobs out there for Americans, especially in the skilled labor sector. I, for one, would rather be a welder than a landscaper. It pays a lot better, too. It’s frustrating that illegal aliens end up getting social benefits, even though they are here illegally. Border security seems to be the most pressing issue. If we can atleast halt the border crossings, then maybe there would be a way to document all the illegals already here if we have some incentive to offer them.. Maybe we could institute a long-term system that involves them receiving vital benefits (which they already receive anyway) for a fee. After say five years of adhering to this program, they are eligible to apply for citizenship. This way, they must prove they are capable of being productive citizens before they are actually allowed to become citizens.
It’s very simple.NO AMNESTY. We have an estimated 12 million out of work we 12.5 million who are here taking American job or using our countries healthcare system, adding to our crime further victimizing Americans, and expecting U.S. to learn English. also because of the crime they let happen in there country they flee there country but give no consideration how the American people can now support all 12 plus million I say we have it closer to 25 million and there breeding which gives rise to argument that the baby is an America citizen that’s not true because there the parents are /were here illegally and anything starting out illegal is just that illegal you can’t subvert the constitution thru acts of lawlessness .
It’s a bit of a cop-out to say that all 12 million of those people would have jobs, if only the illegals weren’t in possesion of them. You forget about the big chunk of Americans who don’t work, and never intend to. As far as the illegals go, I am not wiling to simply forgive their actions either. However, I do have some sympathy for the situation they are in. They did not “let crime happen” in their country. Mexico is a grossly corrupt nation, and has never had the stability that we, as Americans, enjoy. We did not earn that stability ourselves, but inherited it. Yes, Mexicans tend to have large families, but wasn’t America the same way not too long ago? Why not find a way to utilize this group of people, for their benifit and for ours?
