The criticisms of the recent absurd comments by Missouri Republican Congressman Todd Akin, who at this writing is his party’s nominee to take on incumbent Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in November in a contest he had been expected to win, have focused on his clearly erroneous understanding of the human female anatomy. In a now infamous statement, in which he used the bizarre and unheard-of phrase “legitimate rape,” the congressman gave the impression that some rapes of women are not mentally or seriously resisted. This is an antediluvian and misogynistic myth for which there is no basis in fact and which has been soundly and justly condemned.
Akin also stated that the female anatomy can resist unwanted impregnation. This, too, is absurd, offensive and incorrect. Medical science has established conclusively that women cannot internally block an unwanted union of egg and sperm, no matter the relationship between male and female. I think even schoolchildren understand that.
What has gone unmentioned, however, in the cacophony of condemnation by Republicans and Democrats, is the implication in Akin’s comments that rape is not a moral justification for abortion. In that, he is correct: It is not.

Please, someone tell me why we should punish a totally innocent human being for the sins of the Father. All life is a gift from God. It is life at the very moment of conception…. There is life within the female’s egg and there is life within the male’s sperm; life begets life and science backs this up 100%….
Only God has the right to take a life, and His WORD clearly tells us that; There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Proverbs 6:16-19
There are so many women who desperately want children and can’t get pregnant. Why not make the rapist pay all medical and legal expenses so a childless couple can adopt the baby? And throw in some child support for good measure – hit ‘em in the pocketbook besides put them in jail for life. Take every penny of his assets.
But the baby is innocent.
http://news.discovery.com/human/women-sperm-selection.html
Studies by fertility research at University of Adelaide professor Sarah Robertson finds that a woman’s body CAN REJECT SPERM, especially if the sperm is from a man she has not had sex with before.
As well as studies that show a woman’s body CAN SHUT DOWN OVULATION after a traumatic event.:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/text/2018958635.html
Mecklenburg’s article was one of 19 in a book called “Abortion and Social Justice,” published a year before the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.
In supporting his claim about trauma and ovulation, Mecklenburg cited experiments conducted in Nazi death camps.
The Nazis tested this hypothesis “by selecting women who were about to ovulate and sending them to the gas chambers, only to bring them back after their realistic mock-killing, to see what the effect this had on their ovulatory patterns. An extremely high percentage of these women did not ovulate.”
I’d also like to add that the Democrats are very hypocritical in their feelings of superiority about rape is rape.
The defend to this day- Bill Clinton, and bashed Juanita Broddrick without reservation. And let’s not forget, Al Fraken’s joke about raping a reporter.
The Aikin issue begs to question why Obama has the voting record of Crimes against Humanity” (Born Alive Infant Act, Partial Birth Abortion and Prenatal Discrimination Act etc) and NO one is discussing it. Obama essentially, stands for abortion being legal for all reasons for all 9 months. Including infantcide. Why isn’t this being blasted in the media?
This is my man view. Right, Wrong or indifferent. Rape is a violent crime against a woman.
But her is MY questions. How does a woman cope with 1st being raped? I will never know as a man.
Getting a abortion because of the rape. is it about feeling dirty or revenge? Again I will never know as a man.
Last one. The violence has been committed. The woman will suffer from mental stress. How will she cope with killing of a unborn child that also was a victim?
Men will never know.
I believe in the right to life. But not to force my opinion upon women. I said I am a man.
Being a man does not absolve you of defending the unborn. Radical women of the “my body, my choice” faux feminist movement have scared men away. Our original feminists were hard core prolifers!
To partially answer your question: ” How does a woman cope?” It certainly is not by adding the violence and trauma of abortion on top of the already desperate situation.
Is your empathy and compassion needed for the women vicitimzed by rape. Yes. But please do not let it scare you away. If you are seriously interested, there is a book out called:
“Victims and Victors: Speaking Out About Their Pregnancies, Abortions, and Children Resulting from Sexual Assault”
Here is a link for a Federal Apeal for these women to be heard and stop being used as pawns:

Sorry – but NO government – city, county, state or federal has ANY right to tell a woman what she can do with her body. NO one has to carry that child but the woman and if she chooses not to – it is her right and ONLY her right to make that decision. NO ONE has any right to tell her or deprive her of what she needs to do. And with bombing all the abortion clinics and making it impossible for a woman to have an abortion, if she chooses, then she will revert to the backstreet places and possibly die. NO ONE can know what this woman goes thru – in instances of rape and/or incest – so you bleeding hearts – have no right either. Yes there are thousands of women that can’t have children that would give this child a good home – but until you walk in this woman’s shoes you have NO right to tell her what to do or condemn her. If you want to have an operation for something that is only your choice – you won’t want someone telling you you can’t have it because they don’t approve – so you don’t have the right to tell this woman. You have no idea of what terrible nightmares and other thoughts this woman has to go thru trying to make this decision – so shut your fat faces and go take care of your own business instead of telling others how to take care of theirs.
I don’t approve of women having abortions because they want to get back at their husbands or partners, or because they want a specific sex, but when it comes to rape or incest I feel that woman should have the ONLY decision to make – NO ONE ELSE.
And when the federal government starts doing the jobs they are elected to do and not stickling their big fat noses into things that have nothing to do with running this country – then we will all be better off.
phyl1943 – Please bare with me for a few minutes – As a man I could never imagine the pain or the stress of feeling violated by rape. I can believe that in most cases it would be something that one would carry with them for all of their lives. I have even heard were it has caused divorces and even suicides.
As a Christian who tries to live by God’s Word each and every day – Of course we know there was only One that could live that life, that being our Lord & Savior, Christ. – I think God daily for His Grace, were it not for His grace I would have been dead, buried and forgotten at least 30 years ago.
A true Christian understand that the only One True Sovereign God of all that there is has set the guide lines by which man should live. If anyone chooses not to accept the guide lines that God has set for us that still does no change these guide lines…. Those who do not accept God’s ways will be judged by His Law and the Bible clearly states that no man can be saved by God’s Law, only by Grace are we saved.
The Bible also clearly states that each of us are created beings and that we were purchased by the Blood of Christ…. This makes more sense when you realize that as created beings we are not our own but we belong to the Creator.
I hope you read my first comment above –
I would like to add one more thing that in Jan. 1999 The Holy Spirit led me to a youth group to share my 3 abortion stories with them and to deliver God’s message to this group…. After telling my 3 stories – I thought the message was going to be, “God called this life at conception,” this was what the Holy Spirit spoke to me in the Museum of Science & industry in Chicago Aug., ’92 – I said, “God’s message for this group tonight is, “God can even forgive a sin as great as this.” Marcy, the leader of the group said, “A long, looong time ago I had a abortion and I have never told anyone.”
That night my first words as I begin saying my prayers were, “A long, looong time ago I had a abortion and I have never told anyone.” I then said, God, Marcy had never truly forgiven herself but now she knows without doubt that You have forgiven her.”
Now here is the real kicker – Sunday morning Marcy and husband, Marlin were greeters at church. After shaking hands with Marlin I turned to Marcy and to my shock I said, “Marcy, I have a message from God for you. God wants you to know that you will see your daughter when you get to Heaven.” Startled at what I said, I stepped back a step or two and asked, “Marcy did you know that your first child was a girl?” Marcy said, “Yes, I asked the nurse and she said it was a girl!”
One revelation from God is worth far more than the knowledge gained from all the books in the world written by men who have no understanding or comprehension of the absolute truth of God’s WORD.
God’s WORD is true and no matter what is in our past, if we truly repent of our sins and accept Christ as our LORD, He is true to His WORD of saving us from a eternal separation from Him…. Hallelujah!
Phyl1943:
Medically, biologically, a woman’s body ends where the baby’s begins. It is a matter of science, that at the moment of conception, a complely unique human being with his OWN seperate DNA is created. She has her own heart beat, own blood type, own organs…the war cry of “my body, my choice” is a blatant lie.
A mom can survive and baby die (as in abortion) a baby can survive and mom die. Empirical evidence that they are not the same person, same body.
In addition, our fundamental “rights” are Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To have the latter two, you must first posess the 1st one. There is not a “right” to kill another person. You can choose that, but it doesn’t make it a “right.” If your argument were true, then it would stand to reason. logically following thru…that anyone on this board has the right to kill another. Sounds pretty absurd when you follow the logic along, doesn’t it?
When you go in for heart surgery, you are making a decision for yourself. When a woman chooses abortion, she is choosing to end the life of **another** Since the mother is unable/unwilling to protect the life growing within her–it is imperative that the rest of us stand up and and speak up for that baby. Where is the BABY’s choice? Where is HER Right to life? So when women attempt to advocate for “my right” she is contradicting herself. For if the woman truly has the “right” to do as she wishes with her body, then so must the baby growing within her. The act of abortion takes that right away from the baby.
Please see my above post regaring the research on rape victims.

Finally, a rape victim can prevent all pregnancy via vaginal and uterine cleansing. So it is possilbe that the true problem lies in our system where these women feel doubted, like they “asked for it” and fearful of seeking help and reporting the crime and receving medical attention. Lets fix the system of reporting and avoid the rape/pregnancy issue completely.

And besides this braindead moron in Missouri – Sen Akin is NOT a doctor so he has NO medical knowledge to have any idea of what he is talking about. So glad I don’t live in Missouri because he sure wouldn’t get my vote except to send him packing. No woman can control whether a sperm impregnates her egg or not – there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING she can do to control that – so all of your diehards – bleeding hearts that have no idea of what you are talking about – get a life – go take care of your own lives and leave others to their lives.
and debrakcarey – you need to do a little more research on your opinion. There is a big difference on a woman becoming pregnant upon being raped and ovaluation. If you are a woman – you never learned how a baby is formed, so you need to do better research before offering your opinion you show you know very little about.
rjn808 – thank you for your opinion as a man. People don’t realize that rape is NOT about sex – it is all about POWER. If not this -which a professor I had in college explained this – why are babies, little girls and old ladies raped – if not this. It is NOT about sex. Even when a man rapes his wife because she tells him no – which she has every right – that is still power. And the “father” of this raped/incest child – gets off scott free. He has no remorse – no caring as to what happens to that baby.
And if so many of you think that the woman has NO choice but to carry this child to terms – who is going to take that baby and raise it??????? Are all you bleeding hearts – Of course not. So go mind your own business. And what about the mental problems this woman will suffer during and after pregnancy – not about the abortion – but about having to carry this child – knowing how it was conceived? What about what she has to suffer mentally? Have any of you braindead narrow-minded idiots thought of that? NO of course not. You only have one opinion and do not think of the woman that has to carry this child.
Phyl1432:
Guttmacher is Planned Parenthood’s research arm (used to be). They are the premier abortion research arm. Their 2011 research states that 98% of all abortions are for “personal choice.”
Not emotionally capable 32%
Not financially capable 25%
drastically alter life 16%
Rape .3%
INcest .035
Mother’s life .2%
For every 1,000 abortions 3 are for hardship cases (combined).
As you can see abortion is truly a selfish act, aborting a baby for convience. It is almost (almost) laugable that so many people defend abortion because of hardship cases. Combined, they are less than 1 % of ALL abortions.
http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/abreasons.html#3
http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html
Guttmachers stats differ slightly from complied statistics. Abortion reporting is NOT mandatory in the US. It is all voluntary. The CDC has this disclaimer on their website.
