We caught up with White House senior adviser David Axelrod today to chat about the current controversy about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and whether any of its ads are being funded with foreign money.
TAPPER: So the chamber says no foreign money is paying for any of their political activities.
AXELROD: And I guess my answer to the Chamber is just disclose where your money is coming from and that will end all the questions. The fact is they are spending $75 million in this campaign and they will not disclose where one dime is coming from. And that’s the problem with all of these organizations. We have tens of millions of special interest money coming into these campaigns and no record of where its coming from and that should be a concern to every voter in this country.
TAPPER: Their answer would be why should they disclose. No one’s disclosing.
AXELROD: Right and they have a point there. We tried to pass a law in the Congress — every Democrat in the Senate voted for it, every Republican in the Senate voted against it — that said everyone has to disclose. That all these organizations would have to disclose where their money is coming from whether they are supporting Democratic candidates or Republican candidates. The Republicans blocked that bill and the question to them and their allies is: what are they hiding that they don’t want the American people to see?
TAPPER: But you’re asking the Chamber to prove a negative. “Prove that you’re not doing such and such accusation.”
AXELROD: It’s not proving a negative, Jake, because all you have to do to clear up the questions is reveal who your donors are from. The question back to them is why don’t they want to reveal where their money is coming from? I think the answer is, I think if the American people knew where their money was coming from they’d be a lot less apt to listen to the advertising, to read the mail, to respond to the kind of negative campaigns that the Chamber and some of these other organizations are underwriting.
TAPPER: But what do you say to people who argue you are demonizing an organization for a charge that nobody knows if it’s true or not?
AXELROD: Well I’m not demonizing the Chamber of Commerce. I’m simply suggesting to them that they disclose the source of the $75 million that they are spending in campaigns and put to rest, put to rest the questions that have been, that have been raised.
TAPPER: Isn’t that like the whackjobs that tell the president he needs to show them his full long-form birth certificate so he can put to rest the questions that have been raised?
AXELROD: The president’s birth certificate has been available to people.
TAPPER: The long form?
AXELROD: Someone once in the course of this debate about whether we should have a law to force these organizations to disclose where they’re money is coming from in the campaigns, someone said, and I think they’re right – “the only people who want to keep things secret are folks who have something to hide.” If the Chamber doesn’t have anything to hide about these contributions, and I take them at their word that they don’t, then why not disclose? Why not let people see where their money is coming from?

For once I agree with Axelrod: "the only people wo want to keep things secret are folks who have something to hide." Where is Obama's long form birth certificate, or his passport records or his school records? What is HE hiding?
Mr. Axelrod is exactly right in his final response, if it were equally applied to Obama's birth certificate. He says, of the disclosure of donations: "If the Chamber doesn’t have anything to hide about these contributions, and I take them at their word that they don’t, then why not disclose? Why not let people see where their money is coming from?" Okay, well, let's phrase the birth certificate issue the same way: "If Obama doesn't have anything to hide about his birth location, and I take him at his word that he doesn't, then why not disclose his birth certificate? Why not let people see where he was born?" Democrats don't appreciate irony or recognize their own hypocrisy. Axelrod lied, and he knows it, when he said "the birth certificate has been available to people." If he's referring to that certification of live birth Obama's campaign posted on its website, it is not a birth certificate. A COLB is a distinct and different document from a birth certificate in Hawaii, and COLB's were also issued to babies born outside of Hawaii in 1961.
Totally agree with you as our sons were born in Hawaii and their birth certificates are the LONG forms and the ONLY ones that we received from the government of Hawaii. What does Obama have to hide if he refuses to disclose any and all past personal history. It does make you wonder.

The question asked by Tapper, "The long form?" is a litigament question that Axelrod has not answered in this interview, nor while on the David Letterman show a few nights ago. He acts like a hurdler runing in the Olympics. Its a wonder his feet even touch the ground. At least have the balls to answer the question. S,eems like the "elete" only have to answer to their selfs while every one else has to answer to them.
Notice how he totally ignored the question about Obummers long form birth certificate? I say that the Chamber should come forward and tell the hypocrites that they will show all financial records as soon as Obummer shows us his long form birth certificate, his passport, all his hidden school records AND explain why he has a Connecticut SS number when he never lived in that State!

The hypocrisy is getting so deep that eventually it will be seen even by those the democrats use taxpayer money to buy off. They, the democrats, put out commercials condemning the Chamber of Commerce for, as they say, using foreign money, Axelrod says that until the Chamber opens up their records the Chamber is just making baseless claims. What about the Democrats baseless claims, they have no proof that the Chamber has done anything wrong. About the birth certificate, when I joined the military I had to produce a birth certificate and I have willingly done it any number of other times in my life. Why wouldn't a man who "has nothing to hide" make his birth certificate so public that all debate would end? The only logical reason, I can think of, is that it doesn't qualify him for the job he has taken.

but this is on the same subject so it applies here just as much as on Rove. Is Axelrod a scribe or a Pharisee. It should be obvious at first glance that his interest is not whether that money is legitimate because the Democrats have gone to great lengths to obscure their foreign support while it is much less likely that the Republicans enjoy any more and better foreign support than they do Democratic support. I do not see a need to rewrite the whole thing unless I change my message.

This reminds me of a recent column by Joseph Farah touching on the woman taken in adultery, John, Chapter 8. Where the scribes and Pharisees were tempting Jesus that they could have something to accuse him of either touching on their law or the Roman law but he did not take that bait and neither should the Republicans. They brought him a woman they said was taken in the very act and you can't commit adultery without a partner.

These scribes and Pharisees were ignoring this part of the law, making them sinners and unworthy to cast that first stone. When there were none left to accuse the woman then Jesus told her to go and sin no more. In other words he did not hold her for her past but she could not continue to commit adultery as many of our current teachers of morality seem to teach. Read Ezekial chapter 18.
I am not saying all financing comes from a pure motive because it doesn't. Ponzi had to put up some finance to get his scheme going. That made him a thief and if I put up campaign money to get personal quid pro quo that also makes me an outlaw. If you are running for office and take that contribution with such an intent that also make you an outlaw. Therefore the majority of people voted into office seem to be outlaws and if they can control the law they can also control the punishment. That seems to be the current standard operating procedure so Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank et al live in security while despising our Constitution.
We are given a sound mind that we may pass judgment on these things and we are also given sound doctrine on which to base that judgment. If we use neither we do become victims of the lawless.

I wonder how many senators or congressmen have gone on the record as having actually seen this document both Axlerod and the Obama claim to have openly displayed to those who are the deciders of eligibility? According to the federal courts it is a political question yet there aren't any politicians, save Pelosi, who have stated they have done their duty and reviewed this document.
