This video is a little glimpse into days gone by. Watch below with your family for a heartwarming story on being thankful for being an American and the freedom we have. Happy Thanksgiving!
Expressing thanks for the "free public library," public education and "hot water out of the tap"?
Sounds like $ociali$m to me!
Thankful to "be able to go to any church I want"? Even one that's not Christian? Hmm.
"Glad Dad doesn't have to work slave hours, that there are evenings and Sundays and vacations when we can all be together"?
And so thank God for the unions that brought us those things.
Thankful for "a place we can be together in privacy" and "knowing the knock on our door is nothing to fear"?
At least for most white middle-class Americans, before the Patriot Act.
How is "hot water out of the tap" socialism?
Public education back then was not nearly as corrupted as it is now. They even taught from (gasp!) the Bible in many schools, until liberals finally expunged it completely. We can see the fruits of that very clearly today by the rise in crime and steep decline of morality. Government controlled ANYTHING, especially education, is a bad idea that has gotten exponentially worse in our days.
How do you think it ends up there? Regardless, even you totally pay for where you live (it's highly subsidized through taxes in many/most places), I like how you picked one item out of those I listed.
"And I'm thankful for my newspaper … more valuable than any amount of money, because in it the editor's got the privilege of printing what he thinks, and I've got the privilege of agreeing with him or not, however the facts strike me."
"And finally, I'm thankful for being able to believe, in spite of everything, that somehow, some way, the unity we've got here in the Johnson family will someday spread to men and nations throughout the world."
I am thankful that I was able to grow up in a famly much like the Johnson family. We did not go without a turkey for the holidays. However, there was a closeness which I don't think any of the young folks of today will ever experience. I have fond memories of those times. I just wish that the younger folks of today would be able to experience what I did while I was growing up. Naturally one could find things in this movie that could be construed as Socialism..but there was so much more that a person could get out of this than just that. Times have really changed & I feel sometimes they have not changed in the right direction. Just MHO, that's all.
60 years ago we did not have to worry when there was a knock on the door because there were no political thugs (read officials) who would come and drag us away for what we thought. Today, however one is in la-la land of one thinks that.
When was the last time you had to fear a knock on your front door? This is not yet Nazi Germany but if the current administration is allowed to continue and we bow to the demands of unions and OWS groups then we will be living like that.
Yikes, Violet, Did you watch the video? The dad thanked the unions' work; the elimination of "slave hours", "a living wage"… Also given gratitude were: freedom of religion, public libraries, public education, public telephones, higher education, intellectual freedom, physical health (care?), good food for everyone…What in this video is different at all from what this administration has stood for?
THIS VIDEO ABOUT SAYS IT ALL. HAVING THE CONSTIUTION THAT PROTECTS OUR WAY OF LIFE THAT OUR GREAT LEADERS LEFT US OUR FREEDOMS. BASICALLY THE RIGHT TO CHOSE WHICH SOME OF OUR POLITICANS ARE TRYING TO TAKE AWAY FROM US. I SURE HOPE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT GIVE UP OUR WAY OF LIFE THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US BY GREAT AMERICANS.
Amen brother, lets hope we can keep living the same way of life as before.
In his first 4 years he made us an ununited states, why give him another day to break our spirit, and bring God's judgement down on us as a nation.
