Obama’s Diplomacy Sets The Stage For An Iraqi Slaughter

by Jim Emerson

Iran Iraq Obama’s Diplomacy Sets the Stage for an Iraqi Slaughter
President Obama announced last week that American forces will leave Iraq by the end of the year. The decision was made when the administration failed to secure a Status of Forces agreement with the Iraqi government. Intelligence data has revealed that former Ba’athist political and ex-military officers were planning a coup to regain power they once had before Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Sunni leaders are becoming concerned that once the Americans leave the Shiite population will retaliate against them for past grievances. During Saddam Hussein’s oppressive reign the Sunnis ruled the larger Shi’ite population as members of the Ba’ath Party.

As reported in the New York Times, the late Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi supported former Iraq Ba’ath Party officials to overthrow the new Iraqi government. As reported, “Hussein Kamal, Iraq’s deputy interior minister, said the plot included agitators spread throughout the country’s south and just north of Baghdad, and had been planning “terrorist operations and sabotage” after the withdrawal of the United States military.”

This is the latest twist to the Iraqi government’s concern that the Sunni Ba’athists and former military officers will use the occasion of the American withdrawal to stage a coup. Iraqi Intelligence uncovered the plot and had estimated that more than 300 suspects have been planning and organizing activities to disrupt the political process.  Aware of the plot, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki ordered the arrest of former Ba’ath officials to disrupt any plot the Ba’athists may have had.

Fear is growing among the Sunni population that the rounding up of former Ba’athists is no different from the purges of Saddam’s reign. Despite the all the talk of reconciliation among the Iraqi tribes, there is still an undercurrent of sectarian resentments. Sunni leaders are becoming concerned that once the Americans leave the Shi’ite population will swiftly move to retaliate against them and settle some old scores.

With Iran next door putting pressure on the Shi’ite population to purge the Sunnis and Christian population, this is not just the stuff of another crazy conspiracy theory. Iran still remembers the Iran-Iraq war.

Once American troops are gone, anything can happen.

The Left’s Vicious Smear Campaign Against Clarence Thomas Turns 20

by Floyd and Mary Beth Brown

Clarence Thomas during Senate confirmation hearings 1991 The Left’s Vicious Smear Campaign Against Clarence Thomas Turns 20
Twenty years ago this month, Clarence Thomas was sworn in as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. The battle to confirm him was vicious, and Floyd had a front row seat.

Thomas was tapped by President George H. W. Bush earlier in the summer of 1991, and we all knew it was going to get ugly. We didn’t realize it would be a racially charged lynching. We knew it would be ugly because, as the Left has lost the power of ideas, they have increasingly turned to the politics of vilification and personal destruction to destroy conservative jurists and leaders in the media.

Most conservatives watched in horror as the Left shredded the career and personal life of Judge Robert Bork. Bork had been nominated by Ronald Reagan for the court in 1987. By all accounts Bork was brilliant and qualified. When the Left was done pawing his garbage and stealing his library records, we hardly recognized the man. So, we were prepared in 1991.

L. Brent Bozell III and Floyd, knowing the dubious character of the U.S. Senators on the Judiciary Committee prepared an ad entitled “Who will Judge the Judge.” Then we reviewed the resumes of the panel: “Ted Kennedy, suspended from Harvard for cheating, left the scene of the accident at Chappaquiddick and this year Palm Beach.” We finished the ad by sharing about Joseph Biden’s plagiarism and Alan Cranston’s cozy relationship with busted banker Charles Keating.

Needless to say, when the dirt started to fly about Clarence Thomas, the senators’ pontificating would be exposed as hypocrites. When we prepared the ad and aired it to massive television coverage, we had no idea about Anita Hill. We just knew it was going to get nasty.

We don’t really want to recount the embarrassing week of Hill’s testimony, because she was clearly a fraud, and the whole rouse to accuse Thomas of sexual harassment was dismissed and Thomas was confirmed by the Senate.

Many of us thought it would stop once he was on the bench. Once again, we were unable to understand the depth of hatred carried in the hearts of these hardcore left-wing radicals. They have been obsessing about Judge Thomas now for more than 20 years.

We only bring this up because of a bizarre twist taken in some of the latest attacks. Floyd made the commercial while he was President of Citizens United. Floyd left Citizens United in 2007, and together we launched this column and his blog, floydreports.com. But Floyd’s successor at Citizens United, David Bossie, launched a legal assault on the McCain-Feingold law. This eventually led to the landmark decision by the Supreme Court that the First Amendment to the Constitution prohibits the government from censoring political broadcasts.

Now conjured up in the minds of these conspiracy minded left-wingers, they believe Judge Thomas voted with the majority as pay back for the ad Citizen United produced in 1991.

There are many problems with these lunatics’ argument, including the simple fact that McCain-Feingold was passed in 2002, more than a decade after Thomas was confirmed.

Using this same logic you would have to keep Thurgood Marshall, the justice whom Thomas replaced, from hearing civil rights cases brought by the NAACP, because for years he actually worked as the NAACP’s lawyer. In the Thomas case, the connection is even less evident.

Floyd doesn’t even know Justice Thomas. That doesn’t mean we haven’t admired his record on the court. We both believe his record on the bench has been outstanding. And we take pleasure in whatever small role we may have played in getting his nomination confirmed.

Did The Government Let Brian Terry Die To Save An Illegal Alien?

by Suzanne Eovaldi

AGENTTERRY Did the Government Let Brian Terry Die to Save an Illegal Alien?
Was Brian Terry left to die in the desolate Peck Canyon region of Arizona because government officials decided to airlift out the injured illegal alien first on the only Medivac helicopter available? Hard to fathom, but apparently true according to an credible tip this website received soon after the horrific shootout with Fast and Furious guns, which the Obama Justice Department put in the hands of Mexican criminals.

No one is reporting the allegation that Brian Terry was left to die, because some politically correct official decided to airlift out the illegal border jumper on the only BORSTAR helicopter available. CiR.com received this alleged information from a tipster who said: “Bottom line: a series of bad Border Patrol/Department of Homeland Security procedures, policies, and protocol, all designed to protect Mexican criminals inside the U.S., most likely resulted in the needless death of Agent Brian Terry on the night of Dec. 14, 2010.” The news tip went on to say: “The word is out that when Agent Terry and the illegal alien, a bandit, twice deported, who assaulted another Phoenix cop, were wounded in their shootout, the decision was made to airlift out the alien on the only BORSTAR helicopter available in that desolate region of the U.S. Now under a very strict gag order by brass, D.C., Nogales, and Tucson agents have been threatened with firings, job terminations if they are caught talking about the facts of Terry’s murder!”

Our unconfirmed and unattributable source told us that Terry was finally loaded onto some desert transport overland vehicle and driven out somewhere where another copter was parked, not nearby.

“TERRY APPEARS TO HAVE “DIED EN ROUTE TO THE HOSPITAL!”

Our tipster then urged us to keep the heat on and push “with all our might” for hearings with the new Congress. So now, if this tip is true, the entire Fast and Furious epic scandal takes on an even more sinister tone. As Brian Terry lay dying in the Peck Canyon, did he wonder why his government did not think he was worth saving? Was he able to stay lucid through his death throes to wonder why some cruel official thought a criminal illegal alien’s life was more important than his? Did our bright star die from wounds made worse from being bounced overland over very rough terrain?

Was our young border agent sacrificed on the Obama administration’s altar of its Hispanic voter push?

We had this story last January; now let’s hope Congress keeps Brian Terry’s death on its list of Fast and Furious elements to investigate.

Solyndra With A Needle: Obama Considers Injecting U.S. Children With Anthrax

20591109 Solyndra with a Needle: Obama Considers Injecting U.S. Children with Anthrax
Update: The advisory board voted to move the process forward on Friday by asking a review committee to solve the ethical problem of injecting children with anthrax. “Protecting children still stands, for me, among the most important responsibilities that we have as a nation,” said Dr. Nicole Lurie (see below). In this case, “protecting” means injecting children who will probably face no threat of being exposed to anthrax with a vaccine that has caused the most fit Americans, its servicemen, such severe reactions as heart problems and diabetes. — BJ.

The Obama administration is considering injecting American children with an anthrax vaccine in an unprecedented scientific experiment that bioethicists say will unnecessarily endanger the youngsters’ lives and health. The National Biodefense Safety Board (NBSB), will vote today about whether the pediatric vaccinations should go forward. A smaller working group comprised of a whopping eight members endorsed the vaccinations in September.

Since 1998, more than a million people have been vaccinated, mostly servicemen stationed overseas. The vaccinations were temporarily halted by court order but continue today.

Following the 2001 Anthrax infections on Capitol Hill, which resulted in 18 infections and five deaths, then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who is also a physician, said:

There are very real and potentially serious side effects from the vaccine and anyone who elects to receive the vaccine needs to be made aware of that. I do not recommend widespread inoculation for people with the vaccine in the Hart Building. There are too many side effects and if there is limited chance of exposure the side effects would far outweigh any potential advantage.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported in June 2007 that “some servicemembers who received the anthrax and smallpox vaccines” experienced “severe reactions such as migraines, heart problems, and the onset of diseases including diabetes and multiple sclerosis.”

The vaccine has never been tested on juveniles, and no one is certain how a child’s developing immune system will react. Experts believe they are more likely to have severe reactions than their military counterparts. In fact, scientists are unsure of the proper dosage to administer to children, whose parents would have to volunteer them for the research.

The proposal might seem moderately less objectionable if it achieved some concrete aim, but experts are unsure it will accomplish its advertised ends. Dr. Vicky L. Debold of George Mason University summarized the gaps in knowledge, even if the experiments take place. “We’ll know what antibody levels these infants produce, but do we know those antibodies are going to protect against death due to anthrax exposure?”

Bioethicist Art Caplan of the University of Pennsylvania said he is opposed to testing. “We may get, sadly, to that point some day,” he said, “but I don’t think we’re there yet.” Dr. Joel Frader of Northwestern University agreed, “It would be difficult to justify testing it on kids simply on the hypothetical possibility that there might be an attack.” Dr. Meryl Nass was more outspoken. “With this, you’re putting children at risk for no clear scientific or medical benefit,” she said.

Nonetheless, Obama appears poised to barrel forward. The NBSB chair, Daniel Fagbuyi of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, tipped the NBSB’s hat to the media earlier this week. “At the end of the day, do we want to wait for an attack and give it to millions and millions of children and collect data at that time?” he fearmongered. “Or do we want to say: ‘How do we best protect our children?’ We can take care of Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle and Auntie. But right now we have nothing for the children.”

Nicole Lurie, the assistant secretary for bioterrorism at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) heightened the fear, saying it was “socially irresponsible” to wait. “I would hate for a lot of children to die because we didn’t have enough information for the public to feel comfortable getting vaccine.”

The media have raised questions about the financial ties between the Democratic Party and the creator of one anthrax vaccine.

The only currently approved vaccine, BioThrax, was developed by Emergent BioSolutions. However, the Obama administration’s Department of Health and Human Services steered at least $150 million in federal grants to the well-connected firm of PharmAthene, Inc. of Annapolis, Maryland, to develop a new anthrax vaccine called SparVax. PharmAthene donated $1,200 to Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and $10,000 to other Democrats or the party itself from 2004-10. Its founder, Joel W. McCleary, is a former aide to Jimmy Carter and Democratic Party treasurer who donated $2,300 to Barack Obama in 2007. McCleary and his fellow executives in another of his ventures — Four Seasons Ventures, LLC — have proven most generous, donating at least $110,000 to Democratic Party candidates or organizations during the same time period. The government has prudently spent $1.1 billion stockpiling the vaccine.

HHS has since canceled a contract in which PharmAthene had to bid against Emergent Biosolutions (whose political donations span the political spectrum). The Associated Press reported this summer that PharmAthene “would be able to make 150 million doses of SparVax in a year, if necessary.”

What better reason for creating millions of doses, at federal expense, than the hope of future testing or widespread mandatory vaccination to “protect against terrorism”?

This is a case of crony capitalism. Solyndra with a needle.

Intuition tells me Sasha and Malia will not be among the guinea pigs for this great patriotic undertaking. Like attending D.C. public schools, that is a privilege Obama foists only upon other people’s children.

Dr. Anthony Robbins of Tufts University School of Medicine had a unique proposal: test the vaccine only on those with the security clearance to know if America faced a credible threat of an anthrax attack.

Instead, innocent American children will probably pay the price, perhaps with their health or their young lives.

Darrell Issa’s Fast And Furious Rebuke Of Eric Holder Is One For The Ages

Darrell Issa Glasses5721 300x200 Darrell Issa’s Fast and Furious rebuke of Eric Holder is one for the ages

Upon being proven to have perjured himself before the House Government Affairs Committee, Attorney General Eric Holder did what any dedicated leftist would; he changed the subject and blamed someone else.

In a childish and petulant letter to his principle adversary, Darrell Issa, Holder accused the Republican congressman of cynical efforts to “score political points” and repeated his claim to have known nothing of Operation Fast and Furious in 2010.

But Issa would have none of the Attorney General’s bogus claims or pathetic excuses. In a masterpiece of typewritten homicide which has received far too little attention from conservative bloggers–and of course NONE from the mainstream media–Issa exposed Holder’s criminal activities and his lies and misrepresentations concerning Department of Justice involvement in Operation Fast and Furious.

With no trace of the professional courtesy or benefit of the doubt so often accorded one longtime inhabitant of D.C. by another, Issa pointedly accused Holder of deliberately “…undermining the [Fast and Furious] investigation” by offering a “roving set of ever-changing explanations to justify its (DOJ) involvement.”

And Issa rightly stated that, in shifting blame for the Operation’s “shortcomings” from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to the Phoenix US Attorney’s Office, Holder’s “efforts were designed to circle the wagons around DOJ and its political appointees.”

Toure, MSNBC’s 9/11 Truther, Slams Rick Perry As A Birther

RickPerrycrop3841 275x300 Toure, MSNBCs 9/11 Truther, Slams Rick Perry as a Birther

MSNBC analyst Toure, who is a 9/11 truther, appeared Friday on the News Nation show to denounce Rick Perry as a birther. Speaking of the Republican presidential candidate, he slammed, “…I see Trump and the other birthers, Perry, virtually going to the White House and knocking on the door saying can we see your documentation to make sure you are actually an American?”

It’s odd that MSNBC would bring on Toure, who believes in a fringe conspiracy theory, to assert that Perry believes in a fringe conspiracy theory.

Talking to host Tamron Hall, the analyst wondered why people would believe such weird ideas: “Why are we even wondering, at this point, is Obama really an American?”

On Twitter, however, Toure has engaged in paranoid conspiracies linking the September 11th attacks and the U.S. government:
