Obama Wants Arizona Judged By Human Rights Offender

If the Obama administration has its way, Arizona’s immigration law will be evaluated by a nation the State Department considers a human rights abuser.

Barack Obama included a reference to the Arizona law in America’s first-ever report to the UN Human Rights Council earlier this month. On November 5, a troika of nations composed of Japan, France, and Cameroon will hear the case against the United States and suggest a plan of action for the administration  to follow before its re-evaluation in four years. However, the State Department records that Cameroon is guilty of numerous human rights violations including torture, suppression of the press, child labor, and female genital mutilation.

The State Department’s 2009 Human Rights Report on Cameroon records the African nation’s violent history:

Human rights abuses included security force torture, beatings, and other abuses, particularly of detainees and prisoners. Prison conditions were harsh and life threatening. Authorities arbitrarily arrested and detained citizens advocating secession, local human rights monitors and activists, persons not carrying government-issued identity cards, and other citizens. There were incidents of prolonged and sometimes incommunicado pretrial detention and infringement on privacy rights. The government restricted freedoms of speech, press, assembly, and association, and harassed journalists. The government also impeded freedom of movement. Other problems included widespread official corruption; societal violence and discrimination against women; female genital mutilation (FGM); trafficking in persons, primarily children; and discrimination against indigenous people, including pygmies, and homosexuals. The government restricted worker rights and the activities of independent labor organizations. Child labor, hereditary servitude, and forced labor, including forced child labor, were problems.

The report was drawn up by the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, who learned Obama targeted her state’s law from the internet, has asked Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to remove Arizona’s law from the UN’s overview by striking Paragraph 95 from the report. Earlier today, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley defended the reference.

Brewer made the request in a letter last Friday. She also challenged Clinton to “compare the immigration laws and records of any United Nations Human Rights Council member commenting on S.B. 1070…to those of the United States and then publish that comparison. I am confident…Arizona will win in any such comparison.”

The State Department has not taken up her challenge. It is clear that the UN Human Rights Council must set its own house in order before condescending to the people of Arizona — and the two-thirds of Americans who support them. No right-minded president would have turned the case over to the United Nations under any circumstances, much less to an Islamic nation guilty of  the worst abuses.

Video: AZ Gov Learned About UN Report From US

It’s not bad enough the Obama administration has hauled Arizona before the United Nations “Human Rights Council” for its overwhelmingly popular immigration law. Last night, Governor Jan Brewer told Greta Van Susteren the administration did not have the decency to tell her the state’s lawmakers had been put on the same level as Cuban jailers and North Korean torturers. Instead, Brewer said she learned about the lawsuit “on the internet.”

Since we broke the story, that means ultimately she learned about it from us. This development means two things.

First, it shows the desperation of the Obama administration. Despite intense legal harassment of the state and its law enforcement — including a new lawsuit filed against ten community colleges near Phoenix — the state has not buckled in fear. Governor Brewer, State Senator Russell Pearce, and Sheriff Joe Arpaio are defending the will of Arizona — and nearly three-quarters of all Americans — against a thuggish regime that ignores the rule of law and imposes its will by judical fiat. As even that appeal may be headed for failure, Obama threw a “Hail Mary” pass to the UN’s international socialists. All the left-wing activists, politicians, and judges are falling before the courageous people defending a simple law that merely endorses the federal government’s own standards.

Second, it shows the importance of new media: the internet, talk radio, and the few television reporters who broke the media blackout. Any of the elite media’s reporters could have read the report and documented its contents, but they didn’t. It was left to this reporter and this website.

Stay tuned for more stories the media will not report (until we force them to). Just this afternoon, Neil Cavuto hosted a segment on Fox News noting the same UN Human Rights report considers “card check” union organizing a human right.” (See below.) By now you have probably heard” the report “includes a reference to Arizona’s immigration law,” he began. “What you have not heard is that it also includes a complaint of the difficulty of forming unions right here in the U.S. of A.” But if you have read this website in the last week, you had already heard both stories. So, check in regularly and sign up for our updates, and together we will hold this out-of-control administration’s feet to the fire.

Obama’s Ed Secretary Recruits Sharpton’s Protesters

Last weekend, Al Sharpton hoped to outshine Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally with a left-wing, racial grievance gathering of his own. Like Recovery Summer or the health care town hall meetings (which were intended to build support for ObamaCare), it fell short of the mark. But the Obama administration did everything it could — perhaps more than it could legally — to to turn people out for Fat Albert.

The Washington Examiner obtained an e-mail sent last Wednesday by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to more than 4,000 federal employees that began, “ED [Education Department] staff are invited to join Secretary Arne Duncan, the Reverend Al Sharpton, and other leaders on Saturday, Aug. 28, for the ‘Reclaim the Dream’ rally and march.”

The counter-protest was designed to cast Glenn Beck and his half-million followers as racists, while reassembling Barack Obama’s voting coalition for the 2010 midterms. Sharpton told his followers that Republicans:

[T]hink we showed up [to vote] in 2008 and that we won’t show up again. But we know how to sucker-punch, and we’re coming out again in 2010.

Minorities play a crucial role in the Democratic Party, even more so in the election of Barack Obama. The president raised eyebrows in April when he released a video calling on “young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 [to] stand together once again.” (Notice who’s missing from that list?)

Coincidentally, in June the Democratic Party launched a $50 million “Vote 2010″ campaign “to see whether we can bring out voters whose only previous vote was in 2008,” according to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman, Rep. Chris Van Hollen. He’s also trying to recruit many who never voted before. The Washington Post reports:

The party plans to embark on a massive new program this fall to register college students, including many who volunteered for Obama as high school students but were too young to vote.

It is working barbershops and beauty salons in African American communities, and organizing events around the World Cup to reach out to Latinos. Every Wednesday in California, party organizers and volunteers attend naturalization ceremonies.

Sharpton’s event was a two-fer: a hate rally against one of the administration’s most insightful critics and a pep talk to turn out potential Democratic voters.

Incredibly, a Dept. of Education employee defended Duncan’s appearance by saying, “This was a back-to-school event.”

With the memorial in proper context, Duncan’s e-mail is even less excusable. The pressure of a boss “inviting” 4,000 employees to see him speak would imply their taxpayer-funded salaries were on the line. The coercion would be greater yet in the midst of Double Dip Summer when the federal government is the only dependable employer hiring and federal employees receive vastly greater compensation than their private sector counterparts.

This is but another example of the Obama administration’s ongoing scheme to use taxpayer money to force through its far-Left agenda. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-CA, and his House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a 36-page report detailing Obama’s corruption and potential crimes.

This includes the August 10, 2009, conference call with National Endowment of the Arts grant recipients in which Buffy Wicks — a college radical who worked in Valerie Jarrett‘s Office of Public Engagement — told the invitees,  “We’re going to come at you with some specific ‘asks’ here.” These included creating pro-Obama artwork and getting readers to “connect” with “labor unions, progressive groups…women’s groups, you name it.” Obama enlisted “voluntary” Hollywood propaganda for his proposals through the iParticipate campaign. And it “highly recommended” states erect highway signs that tout big government and advertise politicians (including Obama). Rep. Issa finds these and other actions may be illegal.

You can read the full report here.

Taxpayers should ask why Duncan is recruiting foot soldiers for Al Sharpton, a racial demagogue who perpetuated the Tawana Brawley hoax and whipped up a violent mob outside Freddy’s Fashion Mart.

But Barack Obama ran as a different kind of black leader, a “post-racial” president who blended and transcended the nation’s ethnic identities. Why does an old fashioned huckster like Sharpton enjoy any cache in the White House at all?

The easy answer is that Obama lied. The more detailed answer is: Valerie Jarrett supports him. African-American administration staffers told the New York Times that without Jarrett’s patronage “their opinions and the often-legitimate concerns voiced by black leaders like Sharpton would have been thoroughly disregarded by the white-dominated senior staff.” (Emphasis added.)

Sharpton is on board with their plan to “fundamentally transform” America. So is the education secretary. Last month, Duncan told the National Press Club, “In all seriousness, I think schools should be open 12, 13, 14 hours a day, seven days a week, 11-12 months of the year.” Before joining the Obama administration, Duncan headed the Chicago Public School system, where he approved comprehensive sex education and a publicly funded gay high school. He also implemented the Annenberg Challenge created in part by Bill Ayers — with support from Barack Obama.

This shows the administration  takes Saul Alinsky’s maxim as its own:

From the moment the organizer enters a community he lives, dreams, eats, breathes, sleeps only one thing and that is to build the mass power base of what he calls the army. Until he has developed that mass power base, he confronts no major issues.

Obama and his ilk now recruit their army from the White House, and our tax dollars have been drafted to support their war against America.

Sarah Palin Blasts Brian Williams

Sarah Palin’s comments on last night’s Sean Hannity Show were dominated by critiques of the media, and one member of the media in particular.

She slammed Brian Williams’s interview of President Obama on Sunday, in which the president responded to recent polls showing a significant segment of the population believes he’s a Muslim.

After quipping, “I can’t spend all my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead,” Obama responded to Williams’s question about whether the doubt about his religion reflected his inability to communicate with voters with an answer that had echoes of Hillary Clinton’s “vast right-wing conspiracy” comment.

“The facts are the facts,” Obama told Williams. “We went through some of this during the campaign — there is a mechanism, a network of misinformation that in a new media era can get churned out there constantly.”

Palin thought Williams should have pressed him on what he was implying with these comments.

“My first reaction was listening to Brian Williams and wondering, ‘Brian, that’s some stealth reporting. You’re not even going to follow up and ask him what in the heck is Barack Obama talking about. What is he insinuating’?
I was pretty appalled at that notion that Brian Williams was just letting him get away with that kind of false accusation that there is some kind of suggested right-wing conspiracy again, especially knowing that the media still — the mainstream, lame-stream media — they’re in his back pocket, still.”

Obama Hit With Technical Difficulties While Bashing Bush

President Obama did several sound checks while attempting to deliver the following line hitting the Bush administration: “It took nearly a decade to dig the hole that we’re in.”

Gibbs Tries To Flip Obama’s Position On The Surge

On “Fox & Friends” this morning, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was interviewed by host Gretchen Carlson and claimed Barack Obama had said all along that the surge would improve the security situation on the ground:

GRETCHEN CARLSON, CO-HOST, “FOX & FRIENDS”: Will President Obama recognize the success of the surge put in place by President Bush tonight?

ROBERT GIBBS, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: There’s no doubt that first and foremost, that the men and women in our uniform and the sacrifices that I think we are all in awe of — the president will log today at Fort Bliss when he stops there as well as in his speech — I don’t think there’s any doubt, as candidate Obama said, adding 20,000 men and women into Iraq would improve the security situation. I think along with a series of other things…

CARLSON: Candidate Obama said that?

GIBBS: He did.

CARLSON: Excuse me, back in 2007, he said he was against the surge.

GIBBS: No, he said he was against the surge. He said there was no doubt that adding 20,000 men and women would improve the security situation, but as we know, our efforts in Iraq weren’t going to be done simple militarily, Gretchen.

Robert Gibbs is misstating the facts here. On January 10, 2007, Obama predicted the surge would actually increase violence.

Felons By The Thousands Among Infiltrating Hordes

Tens of thousands of convicted felons, including murderers and sex offenders, regularly are breaching the United States national boundary along just one section of the shared line with Mexico, according to a revealing new documentary called “Southern Exposure: Battle for the Border.”

Eyefull Video Productions, located in the migration hotbed of Tucson, Ariz., has produced a made-for-TV special about the U.S./Mexico border crisis. It suggests that the invading hordes also may have an agenda of damage to the U.S. far beyond ordinary crime such as robbery, looting and even homicide.

In anticipation of its Sept. 15 release date, when it is scheduled to be available on DVD on Amazon, producer Stan Wald and director Jerry Misner talked about their documentary with WND.

“We used to be in broadcasting, and we were getting towards retirement age and saying, ‘What do we really want to do?’ That’s one of the joys of actually retiring,” said Misner, a former U.S. Marine and Vietnam vet. “We started about four years ago doing television commercials and corporate-imaging video, and we started thinking we’d really like to do something meaningful and give something back to the country because it’s been good to us overall,” he explained.

“We discovered there were elements of the mass migration that were not being covered in major news across the country, but only in local communities adjacent to the border,” said Wald. “So we decided to start digging into things and getting some answers that the media wasn’t providing.”

A Nation Under God Or A Nation Gone Under

Michael Reagan

Glenn Beck’s remarkable rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial Saturday was a wake-up call for his beloved America. This nation, he reminded us, is and has been since its founding a nation under God. Failure to recognize our absolute dependence upon God, he said, has put this nation in peril.

His warning echoed that my father once delivered when he told Americans, “When we stop being a nation under God, we will be a nation gone under.”

For a long time we have been slowly drifting away from that reality, acting as if our destiny were solely in our own hands — it’s as if we were saying to the Almighty, “Thanks for the ten suggestions, and such trivial admonitions as the Sermon on the Mount, but we’d rather do it our up-to-date modern way.”

I don’t need to remind you that doing it our way: slaughtering the innocent unborn by the tens of millions; now defying the integrity of marriage, that most ancient of institutions; allowing our government to be profligate not only with our own resources but those of generations to come has led us down the road to ruin for us and our children and our children’s children.

We have allowed our government and our representatives in Congress to squander not only our financial resources but those of future generations of American so that we can enjoy all those wondrous benefits Washington offers us now, allegedly free of charge.

We have replaced the old adage that God proposes, man disposes. Now it’s solely man who proposes. And what a mess we’ve made.

In his book, The God that Did Not Fail (Encounter Books), Robert Royal warns that the movement toward “progressive irreligion” encourages ignorance of religion’s unparalleled importance in the development and maintenance of Western culture.

Glenn echoed that explanation of our current condition.

Prior to the Glenn Beck rally Saturday, our newest deity, the all-knowing mass media, predicted that Beck would rant and rage about politics and the current administration and perhaps provoke violence on a frightening scale.

It never occurred to the atheistic media that Glenn’s message would be about God’s love and our solemn obligation to love one another even as we love ourselves.

Much to their astonishment, instead of dwelling on the political differences that divide is, Glenn beseeched us to acknowledge our absolute dependence upon the Divine will and our obligation to love God and our neighbor, no matter who he is.

A friend of mine complained to me the other day that when he went to confession, the priest told him that he was obliged to love his neighbors, all of them. When he almost jokingly asked if that meant he even had to love Barack Obama, the priest said an emphatic “yes.”

Sometimes, he complained, God demands the impossible. The priest reminded him that with God’s help, all things are possible.

That, in a nutshell, is what Glenn Beck was telling us last Saturday: Love of God and love of neighbor, not political rhetoric and dissension, is the sole solution to our national woes.

My Dad, Ronald Reagan, warned us that a nation that shuns God is on the road to ruin.

Thanks again for the reminder, Glenn.

Arizona Fights Back Over UN Human Rights Report

arizona map SC Arizona Fights Back over UN Human Rights Report

Arizona is fighting back against the Obama administration’s decision to haul her state before the United Nations Human Rights Council. Governor Jan Brewer has penned a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday expressing her “concern and indignation” at the administration’s report to the UN, which cited a federal lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration bill as part of its efforts to fight human rights violations. This author was the first person to report that provision of the administration’s brief.

“Apparently, the federal government is trying to make an international human rights case out of S.B. 1070 on the heels of already filing a federal court case against the State of Arizona,” the governor wrote in a line that echoed the opening of my own piece.

She rightly noted the Orwellian aspect of a sitting president appealing to a world government to quash a popular state law. “The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a State of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” she wrote. Brewer vowed to challenge the report all the way to the UN:

I again respectfully request that you amend the Report to remove Paragraph 95 relating to the State of Arizona and S.B. 1070. If you choose not to do so, the State of Arizona will monitor the proceedings and assert any rights it has in this process. Be assured that the State of Arizona will fight any attempt by the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations to interfere with the duly enacted laws of the State of Arizona in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.

A little-discussed portion of her letter pins the blame for the increased deaths of illegal aliens where it belongs: squarely on the shoulders of Barack Obama and his Open Borders allies.

The previous administration built a border fence securing the border near San Diego, California, eliminating that as a viable port of entry. Brewer noted Obama’s “failure to secure the entire border” and his decision “not to enforce major portions of our federal immigration laws” has encouraged alien traffickers to enter through the Arizona desert, leading to at least 170 dead illegals along that state’s border so far this year.

The letter challenged Hillary to compare human rights conditions in Arizona with those in member nations of the UN Human Rights Council “and publish that comparison.” We’ll be looking forward to that book, which will probably come out the same day the administration begins holding all its back room negotiations on C-SPAN.

The only thing missing in her gutsy letter is mention of the human rights violations American citizens face because of Obama’s de facto amnesty program, such as paramilitary clashes, drug trafficking, murders, increased gang activity, rampant kidnappings, sexual assaults, crime, welfare use, home invasions, overcrowded schools, hospital closures caused by soaring medical costs, job losses, bulging prison detentions, bilingual status, property damage, environmental degradation, and overburdened infrastructure.

Obama turns a blind eye to American suffering in hopes of granting amnesty to millions of poorly educated welfare recipients (or, as they’re typically known, Democratic voters).

Instead, he continues to legally harass Sheriff Joe Arpaio. On Thursday, Eric Holder gave a second ultimatum for Arpaio to participate in his own star chamber proceedings.

Brewer is standing up for her state and the whole country — and not merely on the immigration issue. Although few media outlets have covered it, I reported last week that the remainder of Obama’s report to the UN Human Rights Council establishes new categories of “rights” for the UN to enforce, including the “right” to gay “marriage” and military service, ObamaCare, card-check union registration, taxpayer-funded daycare, bilingual education, race-based voting schemes, and Affirmative Action. Three foreign nations will then draw up a plan for the United States to follow, in order to implement these “rights” — and check up on our progress four years from now, regardless of whether Barack Obama is president. The body reserves the right to “decide on the measures it would need to take in case of persistent non-cooperation.”

The Left has increasingly used foreign law to promote its agenda, which the vast majority of Americans reject. In this report, he appealed for international socialists to help foist his agenda on the American people. Glenn Beck‘s “Restoring Honor” rally and Brewer’s letter show he will not succeed without a fight. I’m gratified if my reporting played some small role in this rebellion.
