It was always an odd-couple pairing, spurred more by corporate synergy over common sense, and now it’s over: Keith Olbermann is being pulled from NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.”
Sources say the left-wing pundit’s bosses at MSNBC are behind the decision, that Olbermann missed some Friday night tapings of “Countdown” due his football show duties. With midterm elections around the corner, they wanted his full attention.
NBC assures that Olbermann’s politics weren’t to blame but, really, is putting a divisive figure like Olbermann onto “Sunday Night Football” ever a good idea? Any more than, say, having Dennis Miller on “Monday Night Football”?
Yes, at least Olbermann had sports coverage experience, but once you’ve decided you’re now a cable news network political ideologue, you’re pretty much guaranteed to annoy a large faction of a general entertainment show’s audience.

Even though it is NBC you can now go back to watching it. I am going to send them a e-mail, and tell them thanks for being decent enough to get rid of that political hack from the NBC coverage of NFL-Football on Sunday nights. WOW it has not even started, and now I am so pumped for the start of this years season I cannot get over it.

Although I am a huge NFL fan, I quit watching SNF because they forced this disgusting waste of skin on the pregame and halftime coverage. This is GREAT news! Now I can tune in again (although Costas has become a self-absorbed Liberal blowhard hisself) and not have to worry about the gag reflex! For all of the "outrage" when Limbaugh made his seemingly pale observations on McNabb, 0lberdork's nightly hatefest looks like Hitler speeches by comparison. A hater like that has NO place in football coverage!

When is NBC going to stop with the interruptions during game play. Save the interviews and other cheap talk for before and after the game. Us fans that enjoy the game dont want to listen to a bunch of trash during the game. If NBC has such a short attention span and they can not stay focused to the acton on the field during game time maybe its time they pass on the NFL. As a fan of football, I would like to enjoy the game without a bunch of talk that is not focused on the game being played.
